Set It Off. The self-titled album is now out for the world to hear! I don’t often write posts like this, but god damn, am I proud of what we created.
Over two years ago,
@codysio came by the studio to see if we might be a good fit — to find out what would happen when we put our heads together. We were both frustrated with where music and fandom were at; after years of trying so hard to please the crowd, releasing music had started to lose some of its charm.
That day, we wrote “Punching Bag,” and instantly we knew we had something special. It quickly became the #1 most added song at active rock radio. Fast forward many months, and the singles kept coming — “Evil People,” then “Fake Ass Friends,” and the tracklist grew from there.
What started as a trial quickly became a routine. The writing sessions fell into rhythm — I knew Cody’s strengths, he knew mine, and we leaned into them, pushing the band to be the biggest and boldest they’ve ever been. We stayed genuine, had some serious conversations, and shared thousands of laughs — all of which trickled into our notes app and formed the framework for most of this album.
Being a producer is a strange thing. You spend countless hours with artists — living, breathing, and obsessing over the work — and then when it’s done, it’s usually just, “see you later.” But this album didn’t just result in something I’m deeply proud of; it also created a true friendship in what can often be an isolating lifestyle. I’ll forever be grateful for that.
So to the team, the musicians who played, the mixers, producers, and writers who helped bring this juggernaut to life — thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Set It Off forever.
