ādust settles on fragile thingsā 24x35in. oil on canvas ā i often think about life more than i live it. my version of a memento mori, a reminder that fragile things return to their sender. as dust meets dust, adamās missing rib, the beauty of flowers, stems cut at an angle waiting to be upside down. the string that holds us together, the knowledge we have learned, the books we have grown to love, the sensitivity that makes us alive. if nothing else, as the clouds part to reveal the blue sky, we can look and have a taste of infinity. it has always been above our heads, there is something beautiful in that thought, i fear.

- as you know, i enjoy my time constructing the concept of āedenā. a paradise lost and distorted in human recreations. ācheekinessā has always been a cornerstone in my work and with this piece, itās prevalent. with my love of nuanced sad stories, iām beginning to wander into deeper into the distorted underbelly of the picket fence utopia spoon fed by society. my brain will always be an equal part mixture of humor and sadness, a mixture iāll come to enjoy. so, with that said, just make sure the gate of your heart has a strong little lock on it, we canāt have someone poison the appleā¤ļøāš„

ā i suppose every child yearns to be remembered, even if in the initials carved on a lonely tree. lassoing infinity in my hands, i would created characters and decorate the blank spaces in the forest outside my home. iād tie ribbons around them and etch peopleās initials into the aging wood as if creating national treasures for the next generation. but, time went on and the trees were cut down to make new suburbs. i still have an inkling thought that somewhere a tree still stands tall in the backwoods of georgia, one with the carved folklore, and a stranger can believe in a pseudo fairytales. i painted it, just in casešāļø
