My love affair with Japan started when I was 5. My first TV memories are Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump, which I used to watch in Basque (local TV channels in Spain were the first to have interest in anime). Later on it was Ranma and Sailor Moon and then a never-ending list of other shows. As a young adult I decided to learn more about the history of Japan, I got really into reading Yukio Mishima and Haruki Murakami, and also started studying the language.
My first trip to Japan was in 2011 and it was like falling under a magical spell. The colors shone in a different way. Nature had a deeper smell and more intricate textures. The Japanese outlook on life was so radically different that I felt like a tidal wave of new points of views coming over me. I’ve made 4 other trips to Japan after the first one.
