This is the first time I’ve ever shared this part of my story publicly.
For years, I carried things that even some of the people closest to me never knew about. Family. Old friends. People I grew up with. People who saw me smiling, working, pushing forward, and probably never knew what was really happening underneath.
And that is exactly why I wanted to share this. Because so many people are doing the same thing right now. They’re showing up. They’re raising families. They’re building careers. They’re answering the phone and saying, “I’m good.” And deep down, they’re exhausted, hurting, overwhelmed, or quietly fighting a battle no one can see.
I know what that feels like.
Having this article published in MassLive and The Republican means a lot to me, but the real reason I’m sharing this is not for sympathy or recognition. I’m sharing it for awareness, to encourage honesty, and to remind you there is still hope.
I want anyone seeing this to know that healing is possible. I want you to know you are not broken. I want you to know that the moment you finally tell the truth about what you’re going through can become the moment your life starts to change.
You don’t have to carry it alone anymore. If you’re struggling, please tell someone you love. Or someone you trust. Say it out loud. Let someone in.
