Merry Christmas folks!!! Wishing you all a happy holiday @junkanooacome style! Here I am accompanied by my collaborator @jonblakstar who improved my version of our opening ‘Junkanooacome’ song. It’s a remixed and remastered version of the “Jingle Bells” song that was first published in 1857 under the song “One Horse Open Sleigh” and written by James Lord Pierpont and had no relation to Christmas initially. In fact I recently learned it was named after a blackface minstrel performer, Johnny Pell who first performed it as “Jingle Bells” in 1857. After I decided to first perform my song with the “Jingle Bells” melody and some words in 2019 I recently presented it this past October and performed a new and improved version with the gracious help of @jonblakstar who added even better lyrics to my version. Here we are after our performance on Governors Island singing the tune. A great memory of 2025. So when you hear “Jingle Bells” think of its racist past. In 2026 I hope to drop an album.
