“Who would I be if I had not loved you? How would I know what love is?”
After spending the past seven months living, loving and dying as Whizzer, saying goodbye to him and our chosen family hardly feels real.
I’d like to thank
@dubzdirects and
@gcscalia for believing in me, as well as the rest of the
@contacttheatremtl team, my Tight-Knit cast mates and in particular my unlikely scene partner
@danwilkie . I’ve never felt so cared for throughout a rehearsal process. They’ve all left their mark on me and I hope we’ve left our mark on you.
I’m also grateful that while I was studying in New York, “Angels in America” was on the curriculum, and for the friends with whom I first ventured into this era.
Lastly I’d like to credit
@danedanedanedanedane and his
@resurrection.pod podcast for providing me with so much additional context regarding the AIDS crisis, as well as actionable steps we can take to keep up the good fight [listed below]
My main goal in playing Whizzer was to honour the innocent lives cut short by bigotry, negligence, and systems that prioritize capital over human life. Silence still equals death and the most vulnerable populations continue to pay the biggest price.
Life’s too short. It’s about time we learn to live our truth and empower others to live theirs. It’s about time to grow up. Don’t you think?

THIS IS WHERE WE TAKE A STAND ♟️
In Quebec, new legislation is putting specialized clinics at risk of shutting down. Many of these clinics play a pivotal role in STI testing and prevention.
With the fallout of Bill 2, the physician exodus, and now the proposed Bill 19, how can a layperson help?
This Fall, during the elections, we need to pressure candidates to take positions on these bills, to explain where they stand and what they’ll do to address them.
In the meantime please consider supporting community organizations such as
@rezosante or
@accmontreal .
Queer folks can still access STI testing at l’Actuel in the Village.
