After the World Premiere at the @bolzanofilmfestivalbozen , "Memento Muri", graduation film by @jonathanbugiel , @annieke_b and @susannalaruccia , travels to one of the biggest German festivals devoted to creative documentaries: @dokfest in Munich. The film is nominated for the "Megaherz Student Award", worth of 3.000€. The film will celebrate its International Premiere on Friday, 8 May at 21.00h at the HFF - Open Air - Ciné Vélo Cité. The filmmakers and the Head of the Three Years Education on Documentary Filmmaking of the ZeLIG, @emanuvernillo , will attend the screening.

𝗠𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗢 𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗜 (Documentary 2025) Amidst the crumbling remnants of the Atlantic Wall a journey unfolds. Echoes of life and death reverberate from shore to shore. This year we shot, edited and graduated with our documentary Memento Muri. From France through the Netherlands towards Denmark following concrete giants along the atlantic coast. A journey and a movie that would not have been possible without those beautiful and talented people all working together helping this vision come to life. Some ideas made it into the movie, even more we had to leave along the way, so thank you for your unwavering trust in the process! In times where parts of politics and society tend to lean towards fascist ideologies I think it might not be a bad idea to see where it led us once and will lead us again if we let it happen. This film might be just a drop in the ocean, but what would waves be without its water. Silent witnesses, the cruelties of war and occupation etched into their DNA, they now stand testimony of contemporary life. In between them an enduring interplay of harm and protection unravels. Echoing the still used Nazi propaganda term “Fortress Europe” the Atlantic Wall serves as reminders of war, while also testifying to the liberation of Europe from fascism - a cause that remains utterly vital today. Eternal concrete structures encounter an ever changing landscape, memorials of war are opposed to practical everyday use. How do we treat remains of conflict, how should we? Memento Muri is a journey without definite answers, but the start of an archive of what can be done.

our journey starts in the north of France. here we found the magic of endless horizons of long-stretched beaches, filled with traces from the earth and sea. alternating with high, steep cliffs, that reach from the ever-flowing currents, all the way up to the skies, where birds play in the wind we hopped on top of these cliffs, and down in the sand of the beaches. put our tripod and microphones on the concrete and into the waves, until we got caught up by the tide and wind. protecting ourselves against the elements, as far as possible, and of course not forgetting to ‘liebe das leben’ #bunker #atlantikwall #documentary #sensorial #blockhaus #bunkers #atlantique #atlanticwall #creativedocumentary #normandy #atlanticcoast
