Love watching this dude compete. Helluva first track season. Fastest freshman in the 100 and 200, and qualifies for districts in the high jump.
Just getting started.
Now time to lock in on š!

Spent my weekend working a basketball clinic organized by @vancouveryouthbasketball . It was a great opportunity to share the game with kids from a wide range of ages and abilities⦠and it was free!
In todayās world of pay-to-play youth hoops, I love what VYB is doing and Iām hyped to be a part of it!

Just announced: the panelists for the next edition of Tough Shit: @leah.sottile , @kimi.ko__ , @jonathan.maus , and Heart Free Pham! @oregonhumanities
Tough Shit is an onstage conversation about the most challenging questions Portlanders are facing. Weāll bring together four people with very different experiences of and perspectives on the city to talk through some shit with help from the audience and a moderator. The questions will be tough, and this shit will not be resolved in one night; We expect to leave with more questions than answers, plus some renewed hope for the future. And if not, wellā¦.
I came across this video the other day and since Iām reflecting a lot these days, it feels like the right time to share it. Itās from the BikePortland 10th anniversary party we had at VeloCult in 2015.
Former U.S. Congressman Earl Blumenauer showed up unannounced and presented me with an āOutstanding Achievement Award.ā It had an official U.S. Congress seal of approval and everything. It was pretty neat.
This was a different era for Portlandās bicycling scene. We were still on top of the bicycling world (at least in U.S. terms) with a 7% bicycle mode split (according to the Census, and we knew the actual number was higher) and I felt like BikePortland was a really important part of a very special movement. There was already a feeling that the positive vibes were beginning to shift (BP published the influential āSomething has gone wrong in Portlandā post in 2014), but the real decline in bicyclingās political saliency and ridership hadnāt yet begun.
I remember being on such a high making it to 10 years ā and then coming down when I realized how much work still needed to be done every day just to keep up with everything. Itās like I reached a summit and the view was amazing, but I still had to hike down! And there are always more mountains to climb.
I hope youāll join me for another fun celebration of all the outstanding achievements weāve accomplished together. BikePortlandās 20th anniversary party is in the planning stages now and it will happen at a Bike Happy Hour on our regular Wednesday (of course) in May. Stay tuned for more details, and thanks for being on this journey with me.
Ev got called up to JV at the last minute and came off the bench in his first game to give his new team a burst of energy in the 2nd quarter. š„šÆšŖš»
