Update- 2:16 am. Sunday, fun day!!!
We bought a chair. It’s a Lazy Boy- pretty much the Cadillac of chairs from the 80’s.
Our intention was for Hawk to recline in it while healing, but the real use has been for me to sit in it and watch my CU Buffs lose, my Denver Broncos win (kinda) and our son deal with pain, sadness and boredom.
Who knew that ‘post op’ and being home from the hospital would be the hardest part of this journey.
Ruthie and I are in a weird space where we feel so much love and support, but also feel like we are in a time warp. These last couple of weeks have been so bizarre. I mean, after sickness and sadness and canceled trips, I just woke up to an alarm to give Hawk meds at 2am. And, here I am, in this weird chair, unable to sleep- reflecting on this journey.
I guess my prayer is for divine healing that goes beyond bones and lungs and hospitals. My prayer is not only for restoration, but redemption.
To be ‘redeemed’ is to be bought back.
Jesus redeemed us all when he died on the cross and conquered death by rising again. He redeemed us all by conquering the sin that has infected this world. He has redeemed you. Do you know Him?
I’ve always been pretty good at people pleasing and posturing. I’ve been good at saying the right thing and being the diplomatic one. I think I’m done with that.
I’m in a lazy boy chair in the middle of the night. And I know it’s for a reason.
God always has a reason. For me. For YOU.
He knows your innermost parts. Your pain, your longing, your everything.
Thank you for loving my family, for supporting and praying for our son.

I went to play pickleball today but was rained out. Instead, I took a walk and stumbled upon the chance to help this bald eagle find freedom from the weeds entangling its talons. Even the most majestic of beings get stuck sometimes.
