after 20 years my parents reunited in Tokyo at the show my dad and I played. it feels like the perfect place to end the story of shoes and music about my family and identity in general hahaha. making albums has always been about representing my experience and archiving what is important to me and now I feel sure I can move on to the next part of whatever this strange and ordinary thing is.
thank you all for coming to the show - the true joy of last night will never leave my mind and the memory of joy is a joy itself. Tokyo, and everywhere else, see you when the next album is done. ❤️
Ok here it goes! playing live in Tokyo Nov 1st with Tatsuya Muraoka (my dad)
5 years ago, I saw my dad after 15 years and made a song and video called “shoes”. And now, finally, we get to play a show together. Because I believe in finality and the finite, this will be the first and last time we play a show and the last time we play “shoes” together.
We come together lightly in the spirit of reconciliation and the joy of song!
hope you can make it. tickets in bio.

reporting live from the Japanese embassy in Montreal to let you know I am playing @asagirijam october 18th at Mt Fuji. it’s a solo show and I’ll be playing new songs in a new way. there will be a show in tokyo with a special guest after that - which I will announce soon. these will be the last shows until the next record is done. come listen
thanks for pressing play on this strange, spinning, album 4 million times? in honour of that and the 6 month mark of Jonah Yano & The Heavy Loop, i took to substack and wrote out the whole long winded story of how the album came together over 4 years for anyone curious - link in bio for that
i can’t wait to eventually share the next string of songs we are working on. love!
that about sums it up. thanks for coming out to see our shows canada. it is not lost on me how fortunate i am that you set aside time and money to come to these shows. we start again in japan top of january. as for everywhere else, the heavy loop may come to a little venue in your city next year. until then i sleep deeply
hope you are well and enjoying the album :) the first ever canada tour starts in 3 weeks with the band!!!! tickets at jonahyano.com or in bio
