I’m a 70’s kid so Star Wars played a big part of my youth. As an adult I have had the privilege of working with them directly many times. I got to go to skywalker ranch, try on original customs, and create into the Star Wars universe. This one was special because I got to create custom spectral camo based of scratches in Boba Fett’s helmet, the zipper pulls are based off the Wookie kills he wears and I designed custom bags for this. Myself & @cormack were traveling around and we asked ourselves what would we carry if we designed a real adult backpack. That was around 2019, this bag has gone through a lot of improvements from then till now. But it’s proof that sometimes you just need to make shit that you need and others will dig it. If you ask me for a bag, this is most likely what I’ll send you. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most creative brands and people. @wtaps_tokyo is one of the best to do it. This was a project we got to launch in Vancouver at one of our stores @herschelsupply Military gear is a huge part of my design process, because it needs to be mass produced and the solutions need to be cheap and hold up. As skaters we got our gear at Army Surplus shops because no one made gear that would hold up. Style formed by function.
Stickers matter, the design, the thickness, the finishes. Growing up in the 1980’s having a dope BMX bike was crazy status. I never got a dope one, but I collected the stickers and obsessed over the designs. At @easydoesitbrew we get to make em’ right, just like they did when I was a kid with the hologram backgrounds. Every touch point matters… just wish I owned a Hutch or Skyway in all chrome…
Something that I’ve seen as a kid pops back in my mind and it’s different than I remember. This is one of those. I got really into Ice-T and NWA, I think everyone did that skated at the time…anyways, I started seeing ads like the OE here. These are mock ups, using photoshop, filters, and Mid Journey. I’m not a big AI guy but I also want to understand new tools. We aren’t going to use these, but fun to share….
Creativity happens when you aren’t thinking about it. @erikellington and I founded @easydoesitbrew on a small idea that we had at my house around a year and 3 months ago. We text like teenage girls and sometimes the text messages are golden. So this is a little behind the scenes on the way my brain works. I have a drinking problem 😂 n/a beers…is the solution. Here’s to starting something…. 🦅🍻
