Thereās endless ways to get good drum recordings nowadays and Iām constantly shocked by how good even just one mic can sound when placed in a good spot.
This oneās a quick shootout between the internal mic on my Fujifilm camera vs a mix of drum mics I record with.
The compression youāre hearing on the camera mic is just the factory limiting straight off the camera.
This isnāt even the best example of how good a one mic recording with common gear can sound. I used to love just throwing my iPhone under the drum throne and recording through the voice memo app. The possibilities are endless and itās a subjective pursuit imo

Wanted to experiment with a new video editing technique, tracked some drums and improvised a bass part over it. Next time Iām gonna start with bass cause these fills were all over the place š¤£
