The Los Angeles Fire Department is accepting applications from March 3, 2026 – April 30, 2026 for individuals ready to pursue a career in the fire service.
Minimum requirements include:
• 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license
An LAFD firefighter is trained to respond to fires, medical emergencies, rescues, and all-hazard incidents across the city of Los Angeles. The role demands physical fitness, mental resilience, teamwork, and a strong commitment to serving the community.

We apologize for the scheduling challenges many of you have experienced with the FCA test. We understand the importance of this application process and are working closely with the Personnel Department and Talogy, our third-party testing provider, to resolve these issues.
Talogy is currently updating its system to expand the testing window and add more locations. Once this update is complete, additional dates and locations will be available through May 14, 2026.
For candidates who have registered but not yet scheduled:
Talogy will notify you via email as soon as the system update is finished so you can select a time and location.
For candidates who wish to change an existing appointment:
Please continue to monitor the registration page for new availability.
We will provide a further update as soon as the Talogy webpage has been refreshed.

On Saturday, March 7, 2026 the LAFD Career Expo was held at the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center.
The Expo provided attendees with the opportunity to learn what the job entails from our active Firefighters and Paramedics. They were able to try on equipment, learn about the hiring process and requirements, and become familiar with the LAFD.
