I felt insecure about my skin for much of my teenhood/adulthood. It was frustrating trying to find ways to rid myself of acne. I’ve skipped school because of it, canceled plans, etc. It was a huge source of shame for me for a long time. Even approaching 40, it’s still something I deal with. Being bombarded with filtered/doctored photos of perfect, poreless faces on a daily basis doesn’t do much to help with the stigma of acne/wrinkles/etc. but I think it’s good to remind ourselves that real skin is never really “perfect” and that we shouldn’t expect it to be. #acne #art #artwork #digitalpainting #skincare
It took me a while to learn how to sit with the emotions that make me uncomfortable, whether it’s sadness, anxiety, anger, depression, etc., rather than run away from them or pretend they’re not there. Knowing it’ll pass is what keeps me going, and I can start to heal. #art #digitalpainting #artwork #drawing #mentalhealth
