Last month was the year anniversary of my dad dying. I donāt know if there was any major epiphany Iāve had about it, other than a general gratefulness that he was the one to raise me and teach me that being a man means to be empathetic and kind. Every day is a reminder of him in some way, usually remembering him doing a bit or making a joke or unexpectedly dropping some insane esoteric bit of wisdom while eating burritos.
Last month my interview with @highvis published in @creemmag . Iāve sort of tried to move away from the super self-insert writing but that was the last new band I showed my dad so it was kind of hard not to make the whole piece about that. Jah bless @jackpotplus for making it happen.
Also today @bertkrak finished this tribute tattoo, in the spirit of a tattoo my dad had on his arm. My dad was tattooed by Pat āPicture Machineā Martynuik in the late 70s, and when I went into Smith Street to do it, Bert had pulled out a Picture Machine flash sheet before I even told him the back story with this design right there in a true moment of tattoo magic. Really love this one.
Thanks to everyone whoās been there for me in big and small ways alike, and the people who have reconnected over the last year. And of course thank you to my wonderful amazing wife @juliahillyeah for being extremely patient, kind and loving.
Very honored to be asked by my good friend @mkhrnc to contribute some writing for the back LP jacket of his first solo record under the name Town of Lake, āLilac.ā Inspired by the back jackets of jazz records where every track received a narrative description, as well as alternate histories, the āDeathconciousnessā book that @enemieslist wrote, Geocities pages for small towns, Silent Hill, Brian Evenson and what Mike wrote for the record.
Growing up, Mikeās lyrics were always far and away better + more thoughtful than his other contemporaries (and still are) so was very flattered to be asked. This is the record Iāve wanted to hear him make since I first met him and talked to him about music. Itās a really excellent record, excited for people to hear it.
Last night my dad Michael Hill passed away after a long battle with cancer. Donāt have a lot to say but he was the best father I could ever ask for and Iām going to miss him immensely and Iām glad I could see him before he left

In some wild ass news, @juliahillyeah and I spoke to @machine_head ās @robbflynn to talk about anime, Attack On Titan and his new album for @loudwire and @whydopeoplelikeanime .
ā
Robb rules and I dug this convo. Growing up in SF, Robb and MH have always been staples in the scene and itās a testament to how goddamn good they are that hardcore bands are still covering them. Big thanks to the homie @icenerveshatter for setting it up.
LIB to check it out and listen for yourself
@juliahillyeah and I are both ādown with the sicknessā but a bunch of photos from the wedding are in which softens the blow. Here are a few favorites
