It was fun working on small objects for my exhibition at Ralph Pucci Los Angeles. High firing in the kiln @studioamoca made all the pieces more interesting.

Chroma #25 with Aqua Ink and Pink, on view at Ralph Pucci Los Angeles. I wanted this Chroma piece to have a more handmade feel, and the aqua ink works nicely.
I was pushing the limits of balance with this ceramic slab side table and the color takes me back to the green crayons I used as a child.
Now on view at Ralph Pucci Los Angeles.

These new ceramic side tables are my first experiments with high-fire glazing, which tends to create more unpredictable surfaces and more sensuous finishes than mid-range glaze firing. This piece, nicknamed the "house of cards" in the studio, reminds me of the delicately balanced objects of a Calder sculpture or a Mondrian painting.
Thank you to @amocastudio for your help with glazing and firing these pieces

For my latest exhibition, I wanted to explore the contrast between the ethereal quality of my light sculptures and the grounded, earthy presence of my ceramic side tables. With the side tables, I was particularly interested in the idea of colliding planes—both in terms of weight and color— to create a functional object that was evocative of a Richard Serra sculpture or a leaning house.
