This Volunteer Week, we’re pausing to say something we don’t say nearly enough:
Thank you!
The Volunteer Ambassadors at John Wayne Airport don’t just give directions, they provide support. They don’t just answer questions, they offer kindness. Every day, they turn a busy terminal into a place where people feel seen, helped, and welcome.
Every person you speak with, every map you point to, every moment you give, matters more than you know.
Thank you for all that you do in helping people along the journey. 💙 ✈️

Travel should feel safe, supportive, and accessible for every family 💙
At John Wayne Airport, we’re proud to offer resources that help make the journey smoother, during Autism Awareness Month and beyond. From the Family Lane in Terminal B, designed to ease screening for families with young children, to the TSA Cares helpline providing guidance for travelers with disabilities and medical conditions, support is always within reach.
Because every traveler deserves a more comfortable, stress-free experience ✈️💙

Happy Earth Day! Here's how JWA supports environmental stewardship every day🌍:
Advanced LED lighting upgrades are saving 141,000 kWh annually!💡
This reduces 100 metric tons of greenhouse gases, the equivalent of taking 25 gas-powered cars off the road each year.
Our water refill stations located across Terminals A, B, and C are helping cut down single-use plastic, intercepting the use of over 1 million bottles and counting. With free, cold, filtered water available for bottles of any size, it’s never been easier to refill and make a difference!🚰
Together with our terminal partners, we donated 2.7 tons of food, composted 99.4 tons of scraps, and diverted over 70% of total waste from landfills. 🚮
From reducing waste to conserving energy, we’re building a more sustainable future, one action at a time!💚💙
This month, we're shining blue to honor Autism Awareness Month!💙
At JWA, we offer a variety of resources to help make your journey smoother, including friendly therapy dogs ready to brighten your day
If you need assistance or have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re always happy to help!✈️
On Wednesday, we conducted a full-scale emergency response exercise (AirEx) in compliance with FAA requirements.
This tri-annual training brought together our dedicated partners, including the Orange County Fire Authority, the Orange County Sheriff's Department, and other local, state, and federal agencies, to test and evaluate coordinated emergency response capabilities in a real-time environment.
The exercise simulated an aircraft incident, with volunteers role-playing victims, allowing responders to practice triage, medical transport, and unified command operations.
You may have noticed an increased presence of emergency vehicles, personnel, and equipment in the surrounding area. This was all part of a planned drill designed to strengthen preparedness and interagency coordination. We thank everyone who participated and contributed to the successful outcome of this exercise!
