UltraShaper is a very cool addition to the Cubase Pro 15 plugin collection.... All sorts of potential applications but it can certainly do a thing on a drum bus 🙂

Celemony bring some novel tech - and an A-list of studio musicians - to the familiar concept of a 'virtual musician'. Tonalic is a really interesting (and AI free) way of getting high quality guitar, bass and drum parts into your song ideas.... and the results sound great.

This was a lot of fun to explore. UJAM are very good at what they do and Voxcraft brings their streamlined workflow ethos to the task of vocal processing.... Easy to use, some great sounds and a bargain price.... 🙂

If you are looking of a high-quality vocal tuning tool and are prepared to look beyond the obvious well known candidates, then Vovious is well worth exploring. Excellent results and the UI makes pitch editing a very slick experience. You can read the full review in the latest issue of Sound On Sound magazine.... Links in the bio....

I'm sure you can find plenty of possible applications for the new PitchShifter plugin that Steinberg added to the Artist and Pro versions of Cubase 15.... but it can do an decent turn for quick and easy vocal doubles.... See the details in the latest issue of SOS magazine.... Links in the bio....

Blimey, this is rather good.... OK, I'm something of a John Mayer fan so I'd have been interested in this even without the opportunity to review it.... but it didn't disappoint. Neural DSP are really good at what they do.... You can read the full review in this month's SOS magazine....

Inspired by the Softube 'macro' controls within the Flow Mixing Suite mothership plugin, a bit of an experiment within Cubase to recreate a 'macro' based approach for controlling multiple parameters within some of the #Cubase stock plugins.... and even making a couple of EQ plugins act like a tilt EQ :-) #steinbergmedia #soundonsoundmag

This was a lot of fun to explore. A great plugin collection and then some clever design in the 'mothership' plugin that ties the whole thing together.... Well worth putting up alongside the other top-rated subscription based plugin collections..... #soundonsoundmag #softubestudios

This has ben a long time coming but it sounds fabulous. If you need a sonic reference for mixing rock/ambient/metal in 2026, I guess this is it..... What a great album....

#Yamaha have added an initial re-working of their #vocaloid technology into a new Omnivocal virtual instrument within #Steinberg #Cubase. A very useful tool for writing/editing initial vocal melody/lyric ideas as part of a songwriting workflow. Full post on blog... Link in the bio.

Oh my! This is pretty impressive stuff from #dreamtonics.... three full choir voicebanks for #synthv each with separate soprano, alto, tenor and bass sections, and sections of variable size from 1 to 16 singers. Write your MIDI lines for each section, enter the lyrics, and the let SynthV render the vocals..... Oh, and the engine now includes FX options.... This really is amazing technology.... Hopefully, a full review to follow soon, either on the blog or in SOS :-)

If you have not already, go and find this video of YouiTube.... well worth a watch and a brilliant experiment exploring the difference between an AI music 'performance' and a real human performance..... ... and, as discussed in the blog (link in the bio) it raises all sorts of interesting additional question including whether AI has actually generated a half-decent song.... #sonsoflegion
