Started the trip with family, followed by a solo meander sans phone
Phones seem to go sleepytime every time I visit a hot destination
Somehow managed to break 2 phones on this trip
Existing without a phone while travelling in a foreign land can be panic inducing at first, but is refreshing in a way that is hard to explain, it puts a smile on my face just thinking about it
Not often you meet so many people so chilled and that truly go with the flow
Also, if a sweet Spanish man is on a soul journey sitting by a pool triddling his feet ever asks you to write something down on paper, be sure to give that handwriting your due care and diligence because that handwriting may end up tattooed on 2 people

We all live in different countries on 3 continents, so time away together from our busy lives like this is truly special
Messing around and playing games like we were kids again ~ a week of wonderful memories made, and many tummy-aching laughs had
Our Mom, cousin Eva and Giada joined and added a whole lot of extra fun
Also, I got to smash Tequilas with my mom for the first time 🤓 which was hilarious
Can't wait for the next one!
It blows my mind regularly that I exist in time and space, and how I became who I am today.
The journey, the meander and the adventure have been beautiful.
Looking forward to many more!

Happy 60th Birthday Daddy =) It's a true challenge to select an appropriate gift for parental milestone birthdays. Adding a degree of difficulty for each additional decade.
I have always admired my fathers modest nature despite his rags-to-riches rise in life; always humble in his avoidance of credit for his multitude of sacrifices and for captaining this family ship.
Due to this modest nature he is not someone to enjoy the much deserved fruits of his labour, at least never on himself; never a holiday, a patch of diddly daddly fun, nor a cash splash ~ so for his 60th birthday my sisters and I banded together and got him a Ferrari and a hot blonde ;) To many more!

My 5th return to the wanderful land of the Burn, my 5th homecoming to this incredibly special place and my 5th time swept away by its surprisingly surprising magic
Now that I live abroad, preparing for the Burn is a level or two more challenging than it once was.
On top of that I had a shoot in Cape Town that was postponed till the Tuesday before the Burn, which meant that for the first time I could not attend for the full duration of the gathering.
For the 1st time I was a #WeekendWarrior ~ someone offering minimum participation. The ones that get on my nerves ~ I only showed up for a long weekend. As much as I pushed to submerse myself deeper into the overwhelming wave it has always been, I found myself merely splashing in the kiddies pool most of the time. Like everything in life: preparation is key and a radical approach to inclusion and adventure is what makes it beautiful.
And just as I started beating myself up about it, a few big smiles came along in body paint, leopard print and disco earphones to remind me why we do this.

The Algarve is one insanely beautiful stretch of cliffs, caves and beaches, but man-o-man this specific cave and its natural oculus dome is a real treat
The only way to access the cave is by sea and I was dismally underprepared (last minute plans meant last minute packing), so I braved the waves with my phone, DSLR, lenses and a 360 cam in ziplock bags for waterproofing (free from the airport security) ~ probably not the smartest move I ever made, but luckily it all worked out and my gear only got slightly wet =) #Travel #Portugal #Algarve #Benagil #Beach #Cave #FSJ1
