I’ve been thinking about what it means to be a music maker, especially one of the contemporary-classical variety. An absurd idea occurred to me: I should try to perform in every municipality in my home state of Maine. All 482 of them.
To that end…
My journey across the sixteen counties begins on 7 March at my hometown library!! I’m calling this endeavor the Across Maine Project (AMP). I’m so very excited to rock my way all over the pine tree state. More information, including a mission statement of sorts is available on my website.

I love guitar so much. I have no regrets about my saxophone years, but I didn’t love it. I never felt fully comfortable with it. I couldn’t pick it up and easily improvise something meaningful.
Guitar feels natural to me. I’m no virtuoso, or really even all that great, but it feels right as a vehicle for me to realize the musical ideas that are waiting in my mind and my fingers. And I think this guitar specifically is especially well suited to the task. I’ve never named an instrument before, but I feel like I might with this axe.
I am especially grateful that I get to make music on this instrument with people that mean a lot to me.
