In addition to a portfolio to showcase your work, many creatives who concern theirselves with video production tend to create what is effectively a highlight reel of their favorite and/or best work. Of the 3 methods I provided for making your own portfolio to acquire more jobs: Nova, ReelCrafter, DIY website - the highlight reel is going to fall just below the DIY website in terms of time input and tied for last in terms of cost. Even though in my case creating all of the media that goes in to a highlight reel takes years collectively to make, the reel was conceived and assembled in roughly a week, and does not need to contain half a decade of work. You can even build your own highlight reel with spec work. Just gather every asset you want to include, lock in and enjoy the edit process. This reel here includes some of my favorite work I’ve ever been a part of, and excludes a ton of great material I wanted to use but for the sake of keeping this around the 2minute mark it sits on a hard drive until it sees the light of day again. Anyways thanks for reading this far into my rant. I hope you make the best reel you can, and I hope tons of dream clients hit you up because you finally presented your work in a new and compelling way. YOU GOT THIS Oh I almost forgot, freshbrewstudio represents the commercial aspect of my client work. As freelancers the goal is always to break away from the ‘do-for-you’ 1:1 time to money business model. This is my version! We aim to be the creative partner to businesses that need engaging, high ROI video content and don’t have the time to create an entire in-house team. We handle the video production that aligns with the the ethos of the brand, and use the organic and ad content to help these businesses scale. The better you do, the better we do. When you scale with our content we scale too. It’s the results we generate through the content that get our clients excited, so we’d love to help you see those results too. Thanks again for tuning in! This is the beginning of a beautiful journey! I really look forward to sharing the ups and downs of running this enterprise, and hope that you learn from my many mistakes —

There are a ton of ways to explain the technical aspects of iso, so you can easily find that info cuz you are smart and resourceful. This is just a super quick explanation and a bonus trick I’ve used to reduce the noise in my final images. And yes, ISO also means “in search of” but this is specifically about digital camera ISO (and not film iso) Hope it helped!!! Have a lovely day ~

Once you see it, you’ll never be able to unsee it. I’ve gotten the pleasure of lighting some sets, but I know nothing next to any of the great Cinematographers. Paying attention to the lighting will undoubtedly lead you down a long rabbit hole, and I am excited for your journey. There’s a ton of jargon that goes with it, and grips / lighting techs use all the terminology so maybe watch a yt video or two about lighting ins ye so you know what the heck ppl are talking about on set. Just my two cents. Also any cinematography breakdowns from famous DPs are such a treat to watch, highly recommend starting there for a better understanding! Enjoy your day folks ~

Hong Kong was the only place on tour that we had a chance to explore on our own, and the few minutes of wandering from street to corridor to street was like a fever dream. Touring is fun! You see the highlights and best shots, but nobody tells you about being in a place that you may dream of visiting and you watch it all fly by in a day or two without soaking it in. As with any job, things inevitably get tough. And it’s the mentality you carry when things get tough that defines you out there. You’d be surprised how difficult editing a cohesive piece of content is when you’ve been awake for 30+ hours. Sometimes you may end up in a city you’ve always wanted to visit, but you’re on the ground at 8p and back on the plane to leave before the sun rises. If you never saw the city during the daytime, did you even go?? I’m extremely grateful I got to experience a new part of the world w some new friends and my trusty camera gear. No special edits this time. The beautiful, bustling city flew by so fast. Love u HK!

Motion blur is one of those things that once you dial it in, you’ll always carry that knowledge. The important thing to remember is that if you have weird lines in ur photos or videos, it is your shutter speed that needs to change. Ofc some LED screens like at concerts have a different refresh rate (measured in hz) that will never line up with your camera. Only way they do the virtual productions is by “gen-locking” the cameras shutter to exactly that of the screen. This is also how they shoot 3D movies (stereoscopic). Two cameras have to be perfectly in sync or it’ll give the 3D viewer a big headache. Now I didn’t even mention MoirĂ© when your camera sensor is parallel to a LED wall and there’s weird lines (you’ll notice this if you try to film your computer screen w ur phone). We can go deeper but this is Instagram and I’m just sharing some tips that helped me improve how I think about my shots. Hopefully it helps you too! Have a lovely day. PS If you are having shutter problems or have any questions hit me, might be able to help ~
