Firestarter Watercolour pencil and oil pastel on mylar 39 ¾ × 25 inches 2025 Drawing has been pulling me back in lately. I’ve started moving away from depicting crowds directly, instead using bodies as a way to think through space, letting them overlap, vanish, and drift somewhere between the real and the potential. Can never escape that red 📌 Photo Credit: @priyatakespictures

6 Artists to Watch this Month Six artists to start the year with. Each brings a distinct approach to painting and drawing, from intimate gestures to collective memory. 1. Guillermo Serrano Amat’s paintings distort familiar figures and spaces, creating intense, almost theatrical emotions. 2. Adrian Kay Wong paints quiet moments, working from memory and mood with a thoughtful use of light. 3. Bob Geerts is a visual artist and tattooist whose art focuses on the human body as a site of memory and pressure. 4. Alissa Zilber’s paintings distill the pulse of nightlife and the rhythm of crowds, where movement shapes the composition. 5. Mosa Zhao uses fine lines and detailed patterns to explore ideas around memory, transformation, and spirituality. 6. Emma Cousin’s paintings often begin with a word or phrase. Her process follows its own rhythm, led by language, movement, and instinct. Full interviews with each artist are available now on Curatory Magazine online→ Link in bio. Next up in our current Painting cohort is Alissa Zilber (MFA Painting ‘27)! ⭐️🌙 Zilber is a Canadian visual artist based in Philadelphia. Merging abstract and representational forms, her work exposes the delicate, often unspoken connections between individuals, their spaces, and the emotional currents that flow between them. Her recent work is centered around people’s individual, vulnerable moments within the lively energy of mosh pits, crowds, and nightlife. Through drawing and painting, Zilber reimagines tender glimpses of daily life, layering and manipulating the surface to evoke the ebb and flow of a room as it fills and empties with people. Zilber’s work has been exhibited in Toronto, Montréal, Victoria, New York, Berlin, and Philadelphia. Alongside her studio practice, she guest hosts radio shows on CKUT 90.3 FM and collaborates on visual projects for music and film. (Photos 2 & 3 by @priyatakespictures )

Last week’s screening was such a special night. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and huge thanks to Tobin at @and_artspace for your generosity, support, and all the help in making it happen ✨ The screening was particularly special in light of the fact that this may be the only time we get to screen the series in its entirety. Unfortunately, the only copy of the film was destroyed in a laptop smash accident, meaning we would have to reconstruct it from scratch (which is a lot of work) if we want to show it again. We are currently weighing our options. Photos by @tahajamai and our other wonderful friends

Very happy to announce that our short film Has anyone seen my bike? will premiere at the 25th edition of the Bicycle Film Festival in New York! Hard to believe that after two years, thousands of dollars of fines from BIXI, and many damaged friendships, our film will premiere at the world’s preeminent bicycle-centric film festival. Huge thank you to Brendt and the team at @bicyclefilmfestival for including our film in this year’s roster. In honour of this momentous occasion, Nic will make his way to the festival from Montreal to New York on his trademark electric BIXI! He starts his journey on Thursday, November 6 at 4:00am. Follow along for live updates from the road. 🎬Screenings: New York — Saturday November 8 at 7:30pm (w/ Q&A) Vancouver — Wednesday November 19 at 8:30pm 🎟️ Ticket links in bio.
