Hi, I’m Johnny 👋This is the little corner of Instagram where I tell you a bit about me… and true to photographer form, I’ll do that with the help of a
few photos.
Although I find myself all over the UK and Europe photographing weddings, I live not far from the sea on the Devon/Dorset border with my incredible wife, our three children, and our slightly unhinged Vizsla, Ginny.
I’ve been photographing weddings since 2012 and have shot well over 400 in that time. When I’m not wielding a camera, you’ll usually find me listening to music (I spent many years DJing, including stints as far away as Australia, and music is a big thing in our house), walking the hound on the beach, or out with the fire station crew.
You should probably also know that I really like cake but hate parsnips.
So… onto the photos 📸
1️⃣ That’s me, trying to look edgy in front of the camera. Not sure I pull it off, but I kind of like it anyway.
2️⃣ My awesome family. We take a proper photo every year – these two were taken in the same spot in Paris, ten years apart. The cliché is true… it’s wild how fast they grow up.
3️⃣ I’m also an on-call firefighter. So when I’m not shooting weddings, I’m part of the local crew looking after our community. Not going to lie – it’s pretty cool.
4️⃣ A few shots of me at work, including the time a groomsman at Erica & Dave’s wedding made me do a shot of Jägermeister. Occupational hazard.

2025… what a year
A proper reminder that weddings are 90% people, 10% chaos, and 100% my favourite thing to be a part of.
Thanks to every couple who had me along with my cameras + questionable facial hair.

Well, some crazy news just dropped at Johnny Dent HQ..
I’ve only gone and bagged myself the number 2 spot in the top 10 wedding photographers in UK and Ireland from @mastersofweddingphotography ,
having picked up 21 awards through the year.
This isn’t just an award though, it’s recognition alongside some of the most talented photographers in the industry and a reminder of why I do what I do.
capturing real moments, tears, belly laughs and the beautiful chaos of your wedding day.

Another five frames from my Best of 2025 round up. This post leans heavily into black and white and the funny thing is that typically, a full gallery ends up being around 80% colour to 20% B&W, yet when I select my favourites for a blog post or my end of year post, its almost always 50/50 or more B&W over colour.. So I wonder if I prefer the frame because I personally love B&W, or if I edit them in B&W because I love the frame... Who knows? Does that even make sense?? 🤣

The small moments often end up meaning the most.
Take the second frame for example, its one of my favourite ever wedding photos, its just Laura, casually serving her guests some lunch, on her wedding day, wearing her wedding dress 🤣
Whilst its lovely to win awards it's by no means one of the reasons that I do what I do.. I do this because every weekend, I get to be a small part of the hugs, laughter and chaos that are wedding days.. I basically get to capture lifelong memories for people whilst simultaneously partying... That's why I do it... And perhaps for the cake...
