Growing up, my dad never missed a Lakers game.
Some of my fondest memories are hearing him repeat a line Chick Hearn used to say when it was over:
“The game’s in the refrigerator, the door’s closed, the lights are out, the eggs are cooling, the butter’s getting hard and the Jell-O’s jiggling.”
“The butter’s getting hard.”
A feeling I grew up with. One that stayed with me.
Now it has a name.

Open Runs are a major part of LA. Basketball culture and always have been. It’s where you got feel for the game. It’s where you learned to play through it all.
And for a lot of us , it’s where you took the opportunity to showcase your actual game and not what was required from you at your high school or collegiate team to be successful but to really work on the confidence needed to play at a high level.
Full circle moment. When I was young I knew coming to rancho was always going to be a fade! I remeber playing @bbrownsix_ and company and they touched us up real bad !
Even later when @dariushendersonn was still young and Black aka Reese would have open runs and train us there in high school and college.
Now because of @coach_mac8 rancho still has the most competitive open runs in LA…Soulja Runs!
So it was only right to make sure they were official with some jerseys.
Ps : s/o to all the guys that come out and compete and make the run what it is!

This is my first time working on a project and not being in survival mode. I really enjoy this space … it allows me to think things out strategically and move in a way that I haven’t moved with previous projects. When working in survival mode so many other variables are integrated in the design process and I’ve noticed with this particular project I’m able to try things, and do things that don’t necessarily revolve around revenue, but are focused on art and the process and the love of the process. If I can say one thing, let’s not be in survival mode when we create.
PS we don’t make hoodies T-shirts or hats @coldbutter.la we only make sweatpants, but this is me having fun with the process!
