An Irish city fully embraces cycling 🚲🔥
Last night in Limerick was something special.
Families cycling together. Kids gaining confidence. Drivers beeping supportively. People waving, smiling, taking photos.
A city coming alive through active travel ❤️
Massive thanks to Limerick City and County Council and everyone involved in Bike Week 2026 for creating such a positive, welcoming event.
Urban cycling IS possible. And Limerick is proving it every day 👏🚴

BREAKING NEWS - it is time to continue in earnest the greening of Georgian Limerick. Following the early release of the parklet at Parnell St for Riverfest, next up it is Davis Street just in time for Bike Week. Anyone who knows Georgian Limerick knows it is tough with the underground coal bunkers but we’re going to trial greening using surface planters. Higher level ones and low level ones with seats and lighting added in time. It is a first step as budget allows. I want to see if we can change minds as we push for a more progressive urban space and invest in better public realm. Where Barcelona leads we will follow and maybe someday where Limerick goes Barcelona will follow. Our first in street choice is the much unloved Davis Street. The project coming this week is the beginning of our objective to have a green alley all the way from the Station to Henry Street. I want to trial some surface planters until we are happy with the outcome and then we can do more permanent in ground interventions. Let’s give every kid on this street a tree to see from their bedroom. 🌳 🌳 🌲 🌴 🌴 #MoreforLimerick
A closer look at this year’s waistcoat, designed and made in-house at The Studio - for John Moran @johnmoranlimerick
Crafted from Venetian silk velvet, the fabric shifts beautifully between deep purple and rich blue as it catches the light. Finished with hand-embroidered floral detailing, each piece is made to measure—created with intention, precision, and a focus on timeless craftsmanship.
A true honour to be commissioned by Mayor John Moran @johnmoranlimerick to create this year’s waistcoat for the Mayor’s Ball.
Crafted from luxurious Italian Venetian silk velvet, the piece was brought to life with hand-embroidered florals inspired by the thistle motifs of the Mayoral chain, intertwined with delicate references to the artistry of Limerick lace. These behind-the-scenes moments capture the care, craftsmanship, and storytelling woven into every detail — a celebration of tradition, heritage, and contemporary design.
CALLING ALL HOMESEEKERS IN LIMERICK and their friends (or parents)
if you wanted to rent a home in Limerick beside the central train station would you be interested in renting here in new homes built like this?
Would you be okay for us to leave the gardens of the complex open and permeable to all the general public including the new running/jogging track? You’d still have your own residents only rooftop gardens.
Would you insist on needing the bridge over the rail tracks to get directly to the sports centre and playing fields on the other side or can we save money and take it out?
Would you consider it important to have the new large park to the top of the image or is that too far away for you? (There is a proposal to put an underpass to the park at the top of the site.)
In short would you or your friends like this to be built?
For those special moments in life you have to spend it in one of your special places. Thank you Thomas and Deirdre for a lovely dinner. And to @damien_duggan and @mejuliesworld thanks for being there for me not just tonight but all of the time!
This morning along with Minister Dara Callery, Mayor John Moran, Minister O’Donovan and MEP Billy Kelleher we met the Newcastle West Town Team who are ambitious for their town and its future development.

The new road marks the end of a forty-year wait for the area to move away from its historic 'cul-de-sac' make-up.
However, there are growing calls for the proposed University Avenue to be fast-tracked to ensure the planned Moyross train station becomes a regional hub rather than just a "stop".
Live95's Lauren Beirne was at the official opening of the road, and spoke to local and national leaders.
