26 years in the South End, 3 decades in business & an affordable housing activist proud to be the 9th Suffolk district State Representative đłď¸âđ
Today in the South End, we celebrated an extraordinary achievement for the entire Commonwealth and beyond. With immense joy, IBA opened La Casa â a space that honors and celebrates the countless contributions Latino residents have made to our communities and our shared future.
Thank you to chairs Aixa Beauchamp and Thomas Melendez, Vanessa Calderon, Mayra NegrĂłn-Roche, the entire IBA team, the Yawkey Foundation and all the donors, TD Bank, and the many others who made this possible. This community continues to lead with persistence, joy, and heart.
Another incredible day in community yesterday â starting at Titus Sparrow Park learning about urban forestry from Bostonâs own Todd Mistor, and ending at the annual South End Scholarship Awards at St. Stephenâs Youth Programs. Congratulations to all of the scholarship recipients â your hard work and dedication to community service inspire us all! đłđâ¨
Our office is proud to announce critical investments for the 9th Suffolk District in the FY27 House Budget! đ
With sincere thanks to Ways and Means Chair Aaron Michlewitz and Speaker Mariano, this year we secured funding for youth and elder programming, mental health services, community gardens, a center for Latino arts, and critical support for women facing human exploitation.
Combined with the $1.5M we brought home in the Fair Share Supplemental Budget, and $4 million to enhance safety and recovery at Mass/Cass, these investments mean real resources for our neighbors and a stronger, healthier community. Proud to deliver for the 9th Suffolk District!
This weekend the 9th Suffolk community proved once again that together we are stronger! Our office attended a number of park clean ups, and events - including South End Baseballâs Opening Day and Hayes Parkâs May Day Celebration! In these difficult times we can lean on each other! And iâll work on that pitch for next year đ
Excited to announce funding in the House budget for the Working Groupâs recommendations on Mass and Cass.

And weâre back with another Business Highlight!
During District Day, Rep Moran and I visited Crown Legends in the South End and had a great conversation with Familiar about turning a love for streetwear and culture into a space that uplifts local artists and builds community.
Small businesses like this are the heartbeat of our neighborhoodsâand deserve our support.
Be sure to stop by Crown Legends next time youâre in the area 𧢠#SmallBusinessSpotlight #BostonBusiness
Last week I had the privilege of joining @senatorlizmiranda , @edforboston , @clr.henrysantana and other community members to read to students at the Blackstone school.
Thank you to Principal Courtney Sheppeck for allowing me to talk briefly about why H.3594, An Act regarding free expression, is urgently needed now to ensure that all kids can access a diverse array of books that celebrate differences.
