Fun day at the office. This location was tough, low ceilings and no rigging points. Rigging in a gym is one thing. On location, you gotta get creative. Stunt riggers put in years to master the craft. And stunt rigging isn’t the same as wire work. They go hand in hand, but you can be good at one and not the other. Kinda like guys who skip leg day at the gym, at some point it becomes very noticeable.
If you’re working on your wire work, I love it. But if you didn’t come from a background where you rigged every day, you’ve got to go out and seek those skills and work on them a few times a week until you can’t forget them. That’s why stunt rigging is hard to learn. If you’re not doing it regularly, it’s tough. And wire work doesn’t count. That’s the fun stuff. Rigging is fun too, just not in the same way. And then there’s the cost of it. And the gear. Be safe, and take care of each other.
