Some heavyweight rigging with the @dmm_wales keanu last week removing two ash trees over a watermill race with the great team that is ArBO GbR Munich. By running twin mainlines from a continuous length of rope threaded through a dmm/straightpoint @crosbylifting wireless loadcell at the tail spar tree we were able to half the load on our rope and lift up to the WLL of the keanu whilst staying comfortably within the safety factors of the rigging. For those who are interested, the heaviest lift was 932kgs (2055lbs) which put a load of 13.56kN on the twin mainline (6.78kN per rope) at the landing area. Mainline Arborwinch by @teufelbergertreecare (mbs spliced of 57kN). Lifting power with @lewmarmarine winches being run by a makita DDA460. #dmm #dmmkeanu #arborist #reeve #treeremoval #treecare #Baumfällung #baumpflege

@dmmprofessional Not just an impact block! here using #DMM large impact block with hollow sheave as a 300kN mbs rig plate/hub to tidily consolidate four static lengths of 68kN mbs dyneema rope creating a super strong winching line from which a separate MA system was attached to on a project that involved a landslide, a moving tree, and a need for high winching forces🤦‍♂️never a dull day. #rigging #arborist #arboristrigging #baumpflegelinz #baumpflege #impactblock #treework

An interesting little solo rigging job following storms earlier in the year. Utilising an adjustable A frame i built for another job back in December. Here lifting a wind blown pine off a building. There was limited access and no suitable high anchor points for winching/lifting. Using the chipper with #faireygroundanchors, two lug-all winches to adjust the frame angle, and a 2:1 mechanical advantage on the remote control winch, I could lift the tree upright in one. However, there were strong crosswinds on the day so once the tree was fully supported and lifted a meter or so off the roof I opted for removing as much sail area as possible before lifting the last section upright and chogging down the stem to felling height. The @dmm_wales gyro twin fitting perfectly in the system with it's direct to textile attachment point 😍 #stormdamage #arborist #arblife #dmm #dmmwales #winch #baumpflegelinz #baumpflege

The humble mountain clove hitch stretcher from a single piece of rope, something I learnt in North Italy back in 2005 and never had to use in anger until today. This time thankfully for another application, slinging rootballs and transporting trees over houses to new homes. Always a pleasure working with @baumbuero on one of his many tree planting projects! my carbon footprint thanks you! #treeplanting #cranes #cranespotting #slinging #clovehitchstretcher #arborist #arblife #liebherr

Something I have been wanting to make for last 10 years or so and finally got around to doing it! A luxury item to replace the prussic loop on my big shot trigger mechanism. The mechanism consists of a #petzlmicrotraxion , a #wichard spinnaker release shackle on a 4ft plus 6ft base pole allowing some handy mechanical advantage when "cocking" the @sherrilltree big shot. It was always annoying having to wrap and adjust the prussic every shot to make sure everything was inline to get an accurate shot, now I just clip in and go. Originally I was looking for a quick release bike seat post clamp to do similar thing but I had some offcuts in the workshop the other evening that were too perfect to pass up on using! #arborist #bigshot #sherrilltree #treelife #lineinstallation #throwline #throwlineblues #throwlinebluesnomore #catapult #sherrilltreebigshot #wichard

Perfect local autumn morning in some lime trees today, the mountains looking inviting as they rise above the fog in the background 😍🏞️🌳#mühlviertel #upperaustria #oberösterreich #sanktveitimmühlkreis #birdseyeview #lindenbaum #dorf #heimat #austria #arborist

Some interesting heavyweight rigging from a couple of months ago after a storm passed through with @baumbuero This rather tall ash tree snapped both its main stems at about half the height of the tree and they both got hung up in neighbouring trees whilst still being attached. Fortunately we had a good strong anchor in a nearby tree. Using two ropes/winches we supported the stems in the middle/towards the tip, tensioned them up and then locked them off. We then put ropes on the butt ends and with the help of a redirect pulley at the base of the main anchor, pulled on this line to rip the broken parts from the damaged tree. Using the main anchor rope as a pivot point whilst pulling on the second rope we managed to turn and lift the stems out of the trees the opposite direction they got hung up in minimising damage to the neighbouring trees and preserving the bee hives and permanent shelter built over the hives below. #arborist #stormdamage #sturmshaden #arblife #arboristrigging #rigging #baumpflege #linz #baumpflegelinz #treework

.....in continuation to the last post, for curious minds, the other end of the setup for the triggerable winch rope. We did test several different methods, here is one, with shackle fairlead to make sure the trigger rope is always pulled at the best angle. #wichard #wichardmarine #wichardsailing #teufelberger #arborist

Thanks to all who guessed the many possible and good uses for the setup in last post, the setup was used as a redirect to run a trigger release winch rope through for @teufelbergergroup mega tree swing event at the Wels Stadtfest. To make best use of the small area we had to rig up the swing and make it as exciting/ fun as possible, we designed a double pendulum system which starts off with a 6.5m pendulum from 90 degrees that turns into a 16m pendulum once the mass passes the equilibrium position. At this point the rider is temporarily experiencing 3G and travelling around 40km/h which was enough to bring involuntarily uncontrolled laughs @florianteufelberger or deafening screams @tabitha_isabella 😂 A fun little event with some interesting physics behind it. See next post for the trigger setup as I can't seem to add photo as well 🤷‍♂️ #teufelberger #megatreeswing #arblife #rigging #welsstadtfest #wels #treeswing #arborist

Beauty in compatibility @dmmprofessional @dmm it's so nice to have a Lego chest of compatible, multifunctional hardware components to pick and choose from and assemble to meet the needs of specific rigging setups ... Especially when they look this good 😍 We used this setup on a recent project, can anyone guess what it was for? #arborist #arblife #dmm #dmmprofessional #dmmwales #rigging #revolverrig

A big thank you to @distelforst for producing what I can say (personally) were the best spikes I have ever used. Last month, with great sadness they finally gave up after 12 years loyal service. Anyone who knows me knows what an intensive, hard working life these spikes have had. The worn thin carbon fibre is a testament to this. I've replaced the top pads, bottom straps and spurs a few times over the years. Always kept to velcro tops but tried various bottom straps concluding that the leather belt style work best for me. Last photo shows the first time i changed the top pads in 2015 and also tried out my homemade Burton snowboard binding bottom straps. They were super comfortable and great on poles/conifers but as soon as I had to start branch walking during broadleaf removals I would forever catch the release lever and they would pop open, probably down to where the buckles were. Great to see @sawpod making similar only with a much better placed buckle, I'd love to give them a try again.... And... Would I buy carbon distels again?... They are already in my kit bag 😉 #distel #arborist #arblife
