Getting ready for MCM Comic Con London this week with a little sci-fi inspired creative shoot. 🚀 For this setup, I picked up a classic retro-style Star Trek inspired outfit and communicator prop, then photographed opera soprano Eves Sanders in the studio against a simple white backdrop. The lighting setup was intentionally minimal: one speedlight used as a strong directional “sunlight” style key light, and a second speedlight used as a very subtle fill. The goal was building a cinematic image through creative post production and A.I. worldbuilding following the shoot. Using one of my original studio shots as the foundation, I then developed the final scene into a futuristic starship corridor complete with: space views beyond the ship. atmospheric sci-fi lighting, classic communicator and tricorder props, cinematic colour grading and compositing A relatively simple home studio setup can become something much bigger with imagination, lighting, photography and creative editing combined together. From home photoshoot to sci-fi movie poster. A bit of self-promo for MCM Comic Con London on 23rd May 2026. This started with a DSLR, a grey backdrop, controlled flash lighting, a Star Trek-style top from Amazon, a phaser prop I already had… and me as the model and main character! I also shot a miniature Enterprise model separately, using small lights to give it a more cinematic feel. The final poster became a blend of practical photography, lighting, retouching, AI-assisted layout and sci-fi imagination. AI helped speed up the worldbuilding, the planet, sky, atmosphere and epic movie-poster scale, but the core ingredients were still real shoots, real lighting and real image-making decisions. That’s the part I love. AI doesn’t have to replace the craft and used well, it can help extend it. Behind-the-scenes breakdown coming soon. The Dalmatian Motion Poster Following a fun studio photoshoot with the amazing fashion model @mirka_akbari , I turned one of the shots into a full mock Dr. Martens poster idea inspired by their bold 1460 Bex Dalmatian Leather Boots. I added a Dalmatian to complete the spotted theme (no real dog available on short notice!), then brought the concept to life as The Dalmatian Motion Poster, a living, animated version.. Shot on a grey vinyl backdrop with 3 x Speedlites for clean, punchy lighting. Photography first: directing the light, pose, and energy gave it the real foundation and soul. AI then enabled me to take it further: faster iteration and breathing motion. Real photography foundation. AI-powered motion. Sometimes one simple shoot can unfold into an entire world of ideas. 🤍✨ During this collaboration session with @johnleigh , we explored a range of moods and styles—from the elegance of a black dress to the vibrance of a mango-toned suit, each look bringing out a different side of expression. What started as a series of poses quickly became something more as we began experimenting, pushing the visuals beyond the original frames. From those moments, we took the images further—building new concepts and adding unexpected elements, including working with a German Shepherd to introduce strength, presence, and a deeper narrative into the series. Each layer added a new dimension, turning simple portraits into a more cinematic, story-driven collection. It’s a reminder that creativity isn’t linear. It evolves through collaboration, intuition, and the willingness to see beyond what’s already there. One idea can transform into many when you let yourself explore freely.
