John Haughm performs Sunday, June 21st! John Haughm is a visual artist and experimental guitarist from the Pacific Northwest. Inspired by Cormac McCarthy, Ennio Morricone, Steve Reich, Neil Young’s “Dead Man” soundtrack, the Spaghetti Western goth of Fields of the Nephilim, the sonic punishment of early to mid-period SWANS, the experimental spirit of Coil and Ulver, and the renegade years of the American Old West; John Haughm’s solo work is a haunting, sonic journey through dystopian wastelands of the past. The latest full-length album, “46° 59’15.9”N I I 120° 32’15.4’’W : The Devil’s Coil” is the final installment of his “Nomad Trilogy”. He has since released a live in Australia LP, The PCC Cascade Sessions EP and, most recently, an LP collection of relics and rarities. Since 2011 John Haughm has collaborated with Portland noise legend Daniel Menche, German sound architect, Mathias Grassow, and has toured and collaborated with experimental cellist Helen Money. In addition, Haughm’s Western soundscapes have been performed live throughout the world including several high-profile festivals like Roadburn (Netherlands), Northwest Terror Fest (USA), Covenant Fest (Canada), and Overload (Brazil). I am pleased to present a new solo LP release “MMXV//MMXXV: Bygone Hymns” This LP collection chronicles bonus material, studio outtakes, and compilation tracks spanning the ten year period between 2015 and 2025. It is a trove of antiquity made available on vinyl for the first time. Tracklisting: Side A 1. Born To Endless Night (previously released on The PCC Cascade Sessions CD EP) 2. Ossuary Bells (previously unreleased) 3. 11:02 PM (Winter of 1889) (previously released as a bonus track on The Devil’s Coil CD) Side B 4. Grave Nails & Blood Trails (version II) (previously released on Whiskey & Rust CS and the Spectral Echoes compilation CD) 5. 005//011 (previously released as a bonus track on The Last Place I Remember CD) Limited to 100 copies on black vinyl. Package includes a 12 page A5 booklet, an 8.5x11 insert, and download card. It is available online via my Bandcamp page or the US Eisenwald office. Due to the insane postage costs ($30 to send an LP to Europe!!), I am working on getting some copies sent to Eisenwald’s main office in Germany for fans overseas who are interested in acquiring this very limited LP. Locals can find copies of my solo work at 2nd Ave Records, Landfill Rescue Unit, Mint Record Gallery, and Music Millennium. I will also be playing at Azøth on March 14th so I will have copies there as well. _____________________________________________ #johnhaughmsolo #westernsoundscapes #westerngothic #19thcenturypostrock

16 year old me in 1992 with my Voivod “Rrröööaaarrr” shirt (my favorite artwork of their discography). Voivod was hands-down my favorite band between 1988 and 1995 and I even owned a t-shirt for every album of theirs up to and including “Nothingface”. They deeply influenced my own early musical endeavors and are solely responsible for my interest in music that exists outside the box. Although tastes evolve and bands fall out of favor with age, Voivod is a band that I still enjoy and highly respect to this day. Crossing paths with them over the past couple decades at festivals and local shows has always been a treat. Being label mates with them in 2006-07 was also really cool. But it was a surreal pleasure and honor to be invited to speak about their work in nearly every chapter of Jeff Wagner’s excellent book “Always Moving - The Strange Multiverse Of Voivod”! Anyone who calls themselves a Voivod fan needs this book!

Check out my interview with @johnhaughm from @agalloch_official at link in bio or on @thisdayinmetal ! - When Agalloch surprisingly disbanded in 2016, there was a collective sign of disappointment from those in the know in the metal community at losing one of its most creative, authentic, and genuinely unique bands. Agalloch rose to prominence through a progressive metal alchemy that combined black metal, neo-folk, and atmospheric elements which set them apart from their peers in the late 1990s and early 2000s, specifically with their debut album Pale Folklore and its landmark follow-up, The Mantle. Subsequent album and EP releases, and gradually more frequent live performances, continued to elevate their status in the metal world up through 2014’s The Serpent & the Sphere, all while retaining the quality and artistic integrity that created one of the most loyal cult-following fan bases in the world of heavy music. John Haughm, who founded Agalloch in 1996, had been a driving creative force in the group, whether through his work on guitar, clean and harsh vocals, songwriting and lyrical compositions, or designing the artwork of every release. Once Agalloch disbanded, Haughm dedicated himself to a solo project he had started after a particularly inspiring trip to the desert. As the years wore on, Haughm became more prolific with his solo venture, releasing what he’s dubbed the Nomad Trilogy, which culminated with the release of The Devil’s Coil last year. Somewhere along the line, his friendships with founding Agalloch members Don Anderson and Jason William Walton were mended as well, leading to a reformation of Agalloch for select live shows in 2023, much to their devoted fanbase’s delight. Over the last two years since reuniting, Agalloch have performed in Brazil, Australia, made appearances at festivals across the United States and Europe, and played select shows along the West Coast with John Haughm performing his solo material as an opening act. Many of these destinations had been points of contention during the band’s 2016 demise, but are now being fulfilled enthusiastically with the clarity of a decade for their founding members. Enjoy!

In April 2025, I was invited to record at the Portland Community College Cascade studio for a free five hour session to benefit students in the audio engineering department. I went into this session with literally two riffs and a general song structure idea that was built from the ground up during the recording process. Each track was strictly captured in one take to ensure we would finish everything within the allotted timeframe. The loose playing and small timing errors were left as is. The students were given an additional five hours to mix what we recorded and I had the pleasure of sitting in on that session as well. The result of these sessions were such that I have decided to release them as a limited edition EP. Additionally, Michael Ritenour created an ambient remix with the recorded elements and it is included as a hidden track that will be exclusive to the CD edition. The CD, limited to 100 copies, is available at my Bandcamp page. /.../the-pcc-cascade-sessions-ep Much obliged! _____________________________________ #johnhaughmsolo #pcccascade #westerngothic

We’ve just recovered from a very quick trip to São Paolo, Brazil and then Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico where we had the incredible pleasure to finally play for all our Brazilian and Mexican fans (and many others from surrounding countries). These shows were long overdue. When we reformed in 2023, these were the first two countries we mentioned wanting to finally visit and we’re so glad we did! Thanks to everyone who came to the shows. We had an incredibly warm welcome at both shows and hope to return in the future! To the São Paulo crew, thanks to Edu, Barbara and everyone from Setembro Negro and the VIP Station venue. To the Mexican crew, thanks to Kezhia, Fernanda, and Chopper and a special thanks to Agaves Tradicional restaurant for the incredible food and bottle of tequila! Thanks to our audio engineer Sarah Woods who expertly mixed front of house, and our booking agent/tour manager Nate Carson/Nanotear.

Ao fim de “Our Fortress Is Burning... II: Bloodbirds”, John Haughm (guitarra/vocal) e Don Anderson (guitarra) simplesmente desabaram no chão. “Falling Snow” e “Not Unlike the Waves”, especialmente, marejaram alguns olhos na Vip Station, assim como “Hallways of Enchanted Ebony”, do debut Pale Folklore (1999). Headliner da sexta-feira (5), o Agalloch fez não somente o primeiro grande show do Setembro Negro 2025, mas também um dos melhores e mais impactantes de todo o festival.
