🔗 Plačiau apie parodą: https://fotomuziejus.lt/ EN Today, March 20th at 4:30 p.m. – Opening of John Angerson’s @johnangerson exhibition “On This Day”! 🟡 "On This Day" acts as a visual memorial – a reminder that history is not abstract or distant but rooted in specific places and moments. Through the merging of contemporary photography and rigorous historical research, the project reconsiders documentary practice, using the present to confront the enduring presence of the past. 🔗 More about the exhibition: https://fotomuziejus.lt/en/ Fot. Fotografijos muziejuje šiuo metu įrenginėjama John Angerson @johnangerson paroda „Šią dieną“ („On This Day“), kurioje bus pristatoma britų fotografo, dėstytojo, knygų autoriaus kūryba 🎞️ Projektas „Šią dieną“ primena svarbiausius Europos kultūros ir politikos istorijos momentus nuo 1900 m. Kiekvienas vaizdas žymi vietą, kurioje nutiko kažkas nepaprasto ir dažnai negrįžtamo – įvykiai, kurie baigėsi akimirksniu, tačiau jų pasekmės pakeitė Europą. Jau šį penktadienį, kovo 20 d. 16.30 val. – John Angerson parodos „Šią dieną“ atidarymas! Paroda veiks iki 2026 m. gegužės 3 d. _____ EN March 19, 2026 – May 3, 2026 at the Photography Museum will exhibit John Angerson’s @johnangerson exhibition “On This Day”. The opening event for the exhibition will be on March 20, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. On This Day traces key moments in European history since 1900 by photographing the exact locations where transformative events occurred, on the same calendar day as the original event. Each image marks a site where something extraordinary and often irreversible took place - events that were over in an instant yet whose consequences reshaped Europe. _____ Plačiau apie parodą / More about the exhibition: LT https://fotomuziejus.lt/ EN https://fotomuziejus.lt/en/ Parodos kuratorius / Exhibition curator – Valentyn Odnoviun @odnoviun Organizatorius / Organiser – Fotografijos muziejus, Šiaulių „Aušros“ muziejaus @ausros_muziejus padalinys _____ ▪️ 2022 m. rugsėjo 9 d. ON THIS DAY – March 3rd 2021. Sarah Everard was kidnapped on Poynders Road in Clapham, South London, UK. The area was a well-lit, busy road with residential buildings and shops. She was stopped by Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens, who falsely arrested her under the pretense of breaching COVID-19 restrictions. Couzens then drove her to a remote location near Dover, Kent, where he raped and murdered her. Her remains were discovered in a wooded area near Ashford, Kent, on March 10th 2021.

ENGLISH JOURNEY. Swindon. The town of Royal Wootton Bassett gained royal patronage in March 2011 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of its role in the regular repatriation of fallen servicemen and women from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The bodies were transported from RAF Lyneham and pass through the town on their way to the coroner in Oxford. Family members, friends and the local community assemble along the route in silent tribute for Sgt. Paul Fox, Riflemen Martin Kinggett, Carlo Apolis and Senior Aircraft-man Luke Southgate, who all died within six days of each other.

ON THIS DAY - 27th August 1956. Calder Hall in Cumbria became the world’s first commercial nuclear power station to supply electricity to the public grid. Built on the Windscale site for Britain’s post-war weapons programme, it was codenamed PIPPA (Pressurised Pile Producing Power and Plutonium) and served both civilian and military purposes. Its four Magnox reactors set the design for Britain’s first nuclear stations, running until 2003. The site also housed the prototype Advanced Gas-cooled Reactor (AGR) and the Windscale Piles, which produced plutonium for the UK’s bomb programme until a 1957 fire shut them down. These facilities mark milestones in both civil nuclear energy and the Cold War. Archive image: Energy.Gov (HD.15.012) Public Domain.
