A rainy week leading up to the Loud Thunder 50 ensured runners would get the full experience of vert plus mud. Kristi and John were there to capture all the mud-caked legs, uphill grimaces, lots of smiles, and of course all of those thrift-store treasures. Many thanks to @suntrailrunning for having us there so all the images can be downloaded free for personal use. ⚡️Link in bio. Go get ‘em!

This weekend @john_knepper traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma for the state’s oldest trail run: Lake McMurtry Trail Run, presented by @theoutlaw100 . From the Old Buick Roadmaster, to sunrise views over the lake, to shady singletrack, John captured it all. You can find all of the images on our website, where they can be downloaded free for personal use. Link in bio. Go get ‘em! 🤠
2nd Annual Cole Brings Plenty 5K run / 3K walk memorial event held Saturday, April 4, 2026 on the Billy Mills cross country course at @haskellindiannationsu which was free for everyone to participate. This was held by the great people part of the @155indianrunclub . It was something @sharihicks12 and I could be part of again. I was happy to be welcomed back to lend my support with free photos for everyone. Thanks to everyone who came out to support and keep his memory alive.
This weekend, @john_knepper trekked to the St Louis area to capture a springtime classic: Chubb Trail Races at West Tyson County Park, presented by the @st.louis.ultrarunners.group . In addition to the 50k, 25k, and 8 mile options, this year also featured a new 25k ruck division. A little earlier than usual this year, runners were greeted by cool weather, dry trails, the traditional “low-water” route, and the usual deceptively tough course.
All of the images are now live on our website! Many thanks to the SLUGs for ensuring these photos can all be downloaded for free for personal use. Enjoy!

Perfect day for the race with low-30s start warming into the 50s for the 50K (Double Chubb), 25K, 25K Ruck & 8M. New 25K ruck division drew fresh faces. The overall 50K win went to Zach Skovgaard (St. Louis) in 4:07:50. (2nd image)

One last batch of sneak previews from Rocky Racoon 100 last weekend. Working on finishing up with @luoyunghwa & @misty.dawns this weekend to have them all ready for everyone. Tomorrow is Rocky Racoon 50. Will be thinking of all those out there pushing themselves through under the tall loblolly pines and Texas skies around Lake Raven with the rain thrown in for good measure just to make it a bit of their own 2026 experience. Hope everyone has a great day of trail, good times and new stories to make it their own. Thanks again to @tejastrails for having us be part of documenting last week’s race and making some of our own as well.
More from the Chinquapin Trail on the southern end of Lake Raven this past Saturday at Rocky Racoon 100 in Huntsville, TX hosted by @tejastrails . Hope everyone is recovering well and enjoying their accomplishments and buckles this week!
Shout out to the top 3 female finishers of the @tejastrails Rocky Racoon 100 Mile race held this past weekend at the @huntsvillestatepark . Congrats to Tatiana Rypinski (pics 1&2) with 1st F & 8th overall at 17:59:16 Val Garcia (pics 3&4) with 2nd F & 10th overall at 18:46:10 along with Crystal Ross (pics 5&6) 3rd F & #16 overall at 18:31:45.
It was a great weekend for the race albeit warmer highs upwards 80 as the highs and full sun on Saturday. Trail conditions offered firm but soft dry trails that allowed for optimal conditions for good footing.
I was appreciative to be down there as part of the photography team having had the 2nd time to work with @luoyunghwa & @misty.dawns altogether for this year’s race. Thanks to them for having me be part of a great team. We all have our own races and organizations we typically have, so it is a plus when we can come together. Jenny around the Chicago and upper Midwest region, Misty and Knoxville and the south and me in Lawrence, Ks typically in lower Midwest region. I do most of my work with @mile90photo and very grateful to be part of team. Fun to do independent work and collaborations like these. Check out their work through their IG links and my work as part of Mile 90. The year is just getting started and so many races to look forward to. Until then, great to see these ladies’ accomplishments and share some previews of some of the photos we are working hard to get out for all the participants at Rocky Racoon! More sneak peaks to come!
If not for a little help from our friends, volunteers, RDs, and some pups accomplishments and stories wouldn’t be possible in most cases for all those who toe the line at a race. Wish I had more time to capture more of their engagement to tell their stories etc. Always appreciate what they do; my gf and I both having done the same from set up to break down, to aid station help and course sweeping. Some races require so many hours and in many cases it just comes down to good trail karma. These handful of pics don’t do it justice but just sharing some more pics from Bandera focusing on those on the other side of the trail.
More Bandera pics from Finish line and some extra. More to come. On a side note I actually started a gallery of dogs at races on my site. I have a lot of pics I need to go dig up and add. This race will have some added to the collection as well. @misty.dawns and I worked together at this race and if you have not seen or checked her work you need to. She has the best dog photo from the race. I believe she shared from Bandera on her IG. I bet you could figure out which one I am referring to if you checked her work out.
Happy for all the runners crossing that line, but even more so when I see all the pups there so excited when they see their person again after waiting so long for their return after being away on the course. Not always easy or possible to capture those moments but I enjoy in the moment being witness to it either way.
