The Nara @michinara3 exhibition at @hayward.gallery is incredible but whole I was there I also noticed how everyone at the exhibition looked wonderful too. So the following weekend I loaded up my #nikonF4 with some #kodakproimage100 and shot as many portraits as I could. Here is the first set developed by @21studio_photolab … individual posts to follow and another roll of film in the lab for developing.

“Everyone has a personal identity and a story to tell, and uploading vlogs on YouTube is my platform to do this. Since starting university, academia and working have been my main priority but, despite this, vlogging still plays a pivotal part in my life as it’s something I know I will always have and can do.
“Having vlogging in my life is what makes me seek out new opportunities and adventures, to live life to the fullest and connect to people.”
Farzana Chowdhury participated in the Beyond the Book project of photographs by John Iona. Led by John with Evi Katsapi and made possible by the BAME Awarding Gap, the project celebrates the diverse interests and talents of IOE students. It is on show just inside the IOE Library by the help desk.
Farzana’s YouTube channels are FarzanaVLOGS and FloralFarzana.
“Photography for me is a way of escaping the real world. Mentally, my mind clears up as I don’t have to think about essay deadlines or legal internship applications: it is simply me, my camera, and whatever I am shooting. It allows me to explore new areas I wouldn’t normally step foot in.
“It is something that is integrated into my life. I enjoy being able to put in my airpods and listen to music while walking around a new area. I love how I can just leave everything behind, and only focus on what I am shooting. It has also changed my perspective on people and the way they interact; nature; urban planning; and architecture, along with hundreds of other things.”

Martin, 2025.
Portrait of Peckham series.
You might have seen Martin playing violin on Rye Lane, next to the entrance to the Aylesham Centre. I stopped to have a chat with him, and ask to shoot his portrait while he played… here he is 🤜🤛
