You are invited to join us tonight - Tuesday, September 23 at 7 PM for the first Metonym gathering—a loungified take on the Scenius nights many of you have helped bring to life.
We’ll be setting up inside Rockwell Lounge, the speakeasy behind Delicious Pizza, run by the legendary Delicious Vinyl crew—the label that gave us timeless tracks from Tone-Lōc, Young MC, The Pharcyde, and the iconic J Dilla.
The night will feature:
• Artists sharing works in progress: Rita Andrade, John Hendicott, Elle Spencer Lewis, Max Glascott and Matthew Liam Nicholson.
• Tag-team DJ/Rotating mini-sets from our Scenius house band, the Authority Figurines. Figurines appearing for the evening will be John Hendicott, Alexander Burke, Matthew Liam Nicholson, Greg Papania and DoJo.
• And our inimitable host, Emmy, behind the bar - if you experienced her mixological magic at Scenius 2.1, you know the drinks will be as much a part of the vibe as the music.
This will be our first event as Metonym, a label and artist collective born from our ongoing and newly emerging collaborations, dedicated to building community through events and sharing related recordings with the wider world.
Join us. Bring your ears. Bring your friends. Drink, gab, nosh, rock out, and help shape what this becomes.
No cover. RSVP encouraged. Link in bio.
Rockwell Lounge | Tuesday Sept 23 | 7 PM till late
Friends in LA area are warmly invited to join us 7pm this Friday December 6th for the inception of Scenius 1.0 - an intimate evening of innovative music and fine company based around a string quartet, artists and friends. Featured performances: • Schumann’s third string quartet • Original works for string quartet by Miguel Atwood-Ferguson • “Authority Figurines” live debut (Matthew Liam Nicholson and Dominic Johnson’s collective featuring the quartet in the more electro-acoustic/ambient vein • Tasty DJ sets by John Hendicott
This is the inauguration of a new event series, picking up where our ecstatic salons in Los Feliz Hills left off a few years ago.
The event is free and offered as an end of year gift to the community we’re honored to be part of.
Scenius is a word Brian Eno coined to describe creatives working together to form a scene. He said he was interested in “the intelligence of a whole operation or group of people. I think that’s a more useful way to think about culture. Let’s forget the idea of ‘genius’ for a little while, let’s think about the whole ecology of ideas that give rise to good new thoughts and good new work.”
The idea behind the show is to help foster connectedness, encourage people to interact, and to share some of our own artistry as well to hopefully inspire others.
We’re excited to see you there. Drinks and light bites available at the cafe adjoining.
Limited capacity, filling up fast, please be sure to RSVP asap to [email protected]

A little Sphere appreciation post.. What a journey getting to open this incredible venue. The biggest privilege by far has been to work with wonderfully talented humans across the entertainment spectrum, many of whom set the foundations but were not there to see it open. Huge respect to everyone involved and looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this behemoth
