Is it a "commute" if you spend 10 days cycling to your company offsite? First leg done from Trieste, Italy and down the Croatian coast. Now heading inland across Bosnia and Serbia.

UA Coached athlete Joe Petrowski has set a new FKT on the Genoa–Mont Blanc route in 14 hours, 28 minutes, and 36 seconds.⛰️ From relentless storms in Piedmont to a brutal final push on Mont Blanc’s exposed ridges, this effort was anything but smooth. Mechanical issues, weather setbacks, and stomach cramps didn’t stop him. With the support of his team and in collaboration with Uphill Athlete Coach Martin Zhor, Joe pushed through to rewrite the record.💥⏱️ An incredible show of resilience, commitment, and well-planned training. Congratulations, Joe.💪 #FKT #MontBlanc #GenovaMontBlanc #UphillAthlete #MountainEndurance #AlpineRunning #FastestKnownTime

My second big goal of the year: Genoa - Mont Blanc. After the Monte Rosa record I took a short break and started to rebuild for this one. I came to Courmayeur in mid-June for the final preparations. The Mont Blanc route is not only longer, it is much more complex: Steeper climbs on the bike and more technical alpinism with crevasse crossings and scrambling along exposed ridge lines. My biggest worry on the bike was the heat in Piedmont, but about 90 minutes in it started raining. It was actually refreshing until I crashed in an oil-slicked traffic circle. Only an hour later, my headlight fell to the ground when the mount snapped from the shock of a pothole in Casale Monferrato. We rigged something up (while being attacked by a horde of mosquitos), but the attachment was jammed so I wouldn't be able to replace the headlight. I had to keep it set to low (more of a "be seen" rather than "see" setting) so that the battery would last the entire ride. Farther north in Piedmont there were more storms and I had to ride through violent wind and rain. I was having serious doubts that I had just chosen the wrong day. But everyone was there; I just wanted to keep going. The rain stopped in the Aosta valley and I could see flickers of lights in the distance, signs that the sky was clear and it'd be possible to have good conditions on Mont Blanc. I arrived in Combal 23 minutes down on the record. The team had the transition area set up perfectly and I met @williamboffelli and Bepi for the climb. In just 9 minutes we were off. We kept a smooth pace over the Miage glacier and climb to the Gonella hut. That's where we turned on the afterburners, climbing to Piton des Italiens in 1 hour 25 minutes, taking back all of the lost time. Then I just had to stay strong up the ridge to Goûter and the final push to the summit. From Col du Goûter I was running out of gas and having stomach cramps, but William and Bepi kept encouraging me to keep pushing. It was a relief to see the final stretch to the summit where I stopped the clock at 14 hours 28 minutes 36 seconds, only 14 minutes faster than the previous record. Thank you to the whole support crew! 📷 @cori__photography

Big day on the Genova - Monte Rosa route, where I set a new Fastest Known Time (FKT). I learned about this route after Marcello Ugazio set a new record of 12h 19m two years ago. I loved the combination of my two favorite sports, cycling and skiing, so I had to try. The conditions on the bike were really cold (about 6 degrees) across the plains of Piedmont. As I climbed to Gressoney, I felt myself running out of energy and no amount of bars, gels, or water was helping. I really wanted to quit here but Rolf and Christoph in the support car encouraged me to keep going. When I got to Orsia, the transition was set up perfectly and the crew had me into ski mode in only 9 minutes. Once on skis, it felt like a whole new day. I climbed the first 900m to Orestes hut on pace with my most optimistic estimate. My ski partner @williamboffelli took care of me and kept me going through the difficult moments. After passing Capanna Gnifetti around the 10h 15m mark, I knew there were only 900 meters left to climb and I just had to keep moving. After Lysjoch it was pure agony, but the view of the summit with Capanna Margherita at 4,554m kept me focused. Finally I reached the top with a time of 11h 52m.
