This is how our journey to the Lighthouse began, rehearsing Brittenās 2nd quartet in the @hawkwood_cft
We spent five days together, having never played as a quartet before, exploring this music but also going for walks, talking for hours, eating together and sight-reading music. It feels so right to be learning music this way - with space, stories, debates, singing, inspiration from our surroundings and beautiful people. My favourite factlet about this piece: Starkerās 1948 Grand Prix de Disque-winning recording was so successful and the proceeds so fruitful that a plaque was unveiled above the new indoor swimming pool at his house in Bloomington, Indiana.

Arranging already fiddly violin pieces (thus violating my left hand stretch) is a recent guilty pleasure. Has been a labour of love figuring out the enigmatic Passacaglia by Biber, Italian tuning for the win šš¤
