Dear Dad. The eye of the storm is coming, I can feel the atmosphere shifting, the weight creeping in. The reality has not yet set but the raindrops are starting to fall as the ground begins to lose its reliance. I await the silence, though, and shall stand tall, facing the pain and taking each and every lashing head on. Just like you would.
A fearless protector. A sensitive giant. A soulful gangster.
You prepared us for a storm as violent as this.
A lifetime of love. One of the two roots which keep us grounded has been ripped up from under us. A change so sudden and unforgiving sits and stares us in the face now, and forever more. I miss you. We miss you. I miss your enthusiasm, your curiosity, your fearless honesty, your cheeky ways, your stories, your warmth, your shelter. I love you more than I could ever possibly attempt to express. I am, because you were. Thank you, mate. I hope to see you again someday. Keep those shoulders chuckling and the beer cold. We’ll keep Mum safe now - you have my word.

Everyone is screwed up in their own beautiful ways. Don’t let the noise mould us into one insecure-ridden species. We’re better than that. If you insult a tree, who looks stupid, you or the tree? Treat your body right, mind and heart. Eat natural, see natural, speak natural. And whatever you do, do not forget to be ridiculous.
I am a mountain because you are the valley. You push me towards the sky by taking the pressures of the world. You allowed me to see the sun before you ever felt it’s warmth. You are the very meaning of nature. You love without expectation. You give to nourish your soul. You are the reason I aim for the stars. Uncategorised by society, you radiate life and have instilled values that will flow through generations. You are beautiful beyond words. You are the colour in darkness and the clarity through the flames. Thank you, Mum. I love you more than words can convey.
