The beauty of an empty house (2023) I got to show some work made of trash at one of those empty office buildings we keep hearing about. Honestly it was amazing, an open room with an incredible view, a bunch of friends just hanging out in a defunct skyscraper, couldn't ask for more. This piece is about the collapse of buildings and how beautiful that can be. I think about what the building once was and what it could be, but also where it is and how much time grows around it.

"Shades of a Garden Campus" @ CCA Oakland Campus 27.05 - 06.05.2022 "Shades of a Garden Campus" is a gazebo installation paying homage to the rich history of the Oakland campus and its spirit, with myriad images sourced from the CCA/C Archive. I was lucky enough to get to spend the last 4-5 years at CCA's Oakland Campus. This place has helped create incredible communities of artists over it's existence. I found my roots as an artist within the glass program my freshman year, nurtured by the printmedia community and always reaffirmed by the underground network of individualized students and faculty. It is the end of an era with the sale of this campus and the migration of CCA's Fine Arts Division to San Francisco. May 6th is the last day of classes and the final farewell to this place. Come by from 3 - 5:30 to pay respect with the extended community. This piece will be in Meyer Library available for all to experience. #artist #exhibition #californiacollegeoftheartsandcrafts #ccac #archive #collaboration #contemporaryart #print #printmedia #installiation #immersive #installiationart #immersiveart #art #joellithgow #josephblake

"Snowcrashed" @ hubble_street_galleries 06.04 - 08.04.2022 "Snowcrashed" is a term I have self-diagnosed myself with. A play on the overwhelming idea of how much technology has influenced my life today. An idea that is sometimes to hard to grasp and put's itself just out of my reach of comprehension. Such as an overly detailed map. There are moments when this idea turns into a feeling, physically hurting. Like eye strain from looking at a screen for too long. And times when there is this weird mental dissonance. Like finding oblivion in news articles on your phone. This work is a reproduction of this feeling. Representing moments in my life where I was snowcrashing. Created with materials that instill it's prescribed effect into the viewer. Films from old TV's that cause your eye to rapidly cascade. The abstraction and warmth textiles creates on a foreboding image. The physical layering of large bitmaps causing incomprehension. #artexhibition #artist #exhibition #contemporaryart #print #printmedia #techart #technology #art #joellithgow

160520 | Self_Portrait I've wanted to do a self portrait for awhile now. I feel as if it's some sort of rite of passage for artists. Now feeling confidant enough in my practice and where I am as an artist I felt like it was the right time. My processing and process intertwines with technology and the systematic thinking that comes with it, so much I would consider myself a cyborg.

030920 | Self_Portrait-Deconstructions I've always loved arranging my test pulls to be some scattered remnant of the project. These test prints are usually done on newspaper and thrown out after but I love this system so much I thought it was time to put them on some nicer paper and hold them as their own.
