Joel er einn af frumkvöðlum dönsku beik senunnar og hefur dansað frá 1989. Hann hefur unnið með fjölda listamanna líkt og Fugees, De La Sol, Sugarhill Gang, Melle Mel, Kurtis Blow, Justin Timberlake, The Prodigy og fleiri.

Hotstepper is a platform with passion for authentic dance, art and culture.
The organisation was founded in 2002 by Joel De Andrade and Karen Galsgaard – first Scandinavian breaking champions (BOTY).
Both have roots and are pioneers in the Danish Hip Hop scene. Joel has been dancing since 1989 and Karen since 1998. Their experience ranges from battles, shows and theatre to international judging and workshops as well as organising events, community outreach and charity projects.
They have mentored countless students at Hotstepper and overseas, many of whom have become world-class dancers including solo breaking world champion (Undisputed Master) and dancing for some of the most famous international artists.
Joel and Karen have both been nominated for awards for their contribution to the Danish dance scene.
Hotstepper is a home and source for many leading dancers with national and international success. Credits that range from working with famous artists, theatre, TV & film to winning battles & competitions and making events that keep the culture alive.

I dag er vi taget afsted mod København for at danse på @hotstepperdancestudio 🤩
Først snuppede vi en choreoclass med @dennishamendoza , derefter hørte vi lidt om Hotsteppers historie hos boss, @joelhotstepper og derefter en poppingclass, hvor teknikken virkelig kom på prøve. Mega fedt at komme ud og prøve noget helt andet end hvad vi er vant til, samt andre trænere - en sand fornøjelse!

Udstillingen ‘Døgnfluen der ikke ville dø’ var 💯🔥
Koncerten ‘Fra de første til de største’ var en Hip Hop fest og for os i miljøet en kæmpe succes - at kunne få samlet så mange af os i Forum, et tight program som holdt, et supa nice publikum og bare Hip Hop all the way!!!

Sidst men ikke mindst tak til alle breakers, som var med d.14/9 på scenen, tak til jer som hoppede med last minute på dagen pga aflysninger (life happens). Ikke alle kunne være med, vi havde kun 5 minutter - men vi havde alle med i ånden på den scene! Tak til alle breakers i DK, you keep it moving!!!

Judging the breaking battles at Asian Games (second largest multi-sport event after the Olympics) in Hangzhou, China this weekend where the winners get to go straight to the Paris Olympics - history in the making 🏅⭐️🏅
Asia also has a special place in my heart, as my home was in the region on and off for 10 years + where I have been judging, jamming and teaching in over 10 countries with some of my greatest experiences and memories. Its good to be back ❤️❤️❤️
So its one of the greatest honours for me to be part of Asian Games, judging what I love in a region I love, and to be doing so with other accomplished & distinguished judges, DJs, MCs and an amazing team behind us all 🫶🫶🫶
