ABOUT JOEL FRITZON
Joel Fritzon
@joelfritzon is an engaged dancer, performer, and teacher, educated at the Danish School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen in 2011.
Hyper Coral is his second new production with MYKA; in 2024, he was a performer and collaborator of the production Mycelium at Anemone Teatret, and in 2023, he toured shorter versions of the performances Månen and Rumrejsen in Dansehallerne’s KORA program.
Joel began his career as a dancer at Danish Dance Theatre from 2011 to 2015, under the direction of Tim Rushton, where he danced not only in Rushton’s works but also work by Kim Brandstrup, Fabio Liberti, Alessandro Sousa Pereira, Örjan Andersson, Wang Yuanyuan, and André Mesquita.
As a freelancer, he has danced in projects ranging from smaller to larger productions in both Denmark and internationally, including collaborations with Martin Forsberg, Helena Franzen, and Cathy Marston.
In 2021 he performed in AMDUAT - An Oxygen Machine by Hotel Pro Forma with concept and direction by Kirsten Dehlholm and John R. Skulberg, which was restaged at Copenhagen Stage in 2024.
His first collaboration with a company creating dance for younger audiences was with GAZART, in 2021 where toured the peice ”A Whole is One Half and Two Quarters,” choreographed by Tali Rázga. The following year, he continued the collaboration with Rázga as he co-created the choreography and began touring the solo piece accompanied by guitarist Søren BODYJOY.
Joel is passionate about contributing to children’s and young people’s positive experiences with dance and its overall power.
As a dance facilitator he also teaches workshops in both pre-school institutions and schools, in collaboration with Aaben Dans, Tiny Dancer, and the Danish Dance Theatre. He has two children, lives in Copenhagen, and will soon be a certified Feldenkrais Practitioner®.
