He is a German photographer and master printer celebrated for his craftsmanship in analogue black-and-white printing. Originally trained in architecture, he later devoted himself fully to photography.
He opened his first professional darkroom in Aachen in 1984. After passing his instructor's examination at the Aachen Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in 1993, he soon became a member of the examination board at the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
He gained his international reputation in the years following his move to Berlin-Mitte, the epicenter of the photographic scene. Since 2001, he has been producing all formats of analog black and white photography there with uncompromising quality.
High-caliber photographic artists appreciate his work, including, among many others, Dieter Appelt, Harald Hauswald, Horst Hamann, Klaus Kinold, Will McBride, Ulrike Ottinger, Heinrich Riebesehl, Hans-Christian Schink, Dayanita Singh, and Thomas Struth.
Institutions such as Edition Panorama, Institut Heidersberger, CO Galerie, Galerie Kicken, Museum Hamburger Bahnhof, and the Museum für Fotografie also rely on his first-class work.
In his own projects he dedicates himself to landscape and industrial photography, mostly using a large format camera.
As an instructor at PhotoWerkBerlin, he shares his extensive expertise through specialized analogue printing courses.

Neugierig auf analoge Fotografie, aber du weißt noch nicht genau, wo du anfangen sollst?
Für diesen Workshop sind keine Vorkenntnisse und keine Fotografie- oder Dunkelkammererfahrung nötig! Du kannst deine Kamera mitbringen, aber es geht auch ohne, wenn du noch nicht weißt, welches Modell das Richtige für dich ist.
Ein entspannter Einstieg in die analoge Welt, für alle die einfach mal wissen wollen, wie das mit dem Film wirklich funktioniert.
