There is a new monoprint in our shop, made up from layers of recent posters and some really old ones.

During the set up of a print run a few pulls are made on a random piece of paper, to see, if the registration is tight and to varify the opacity of the ink.
Over time this piece of paper accumulates imagery and takes on a design of its own.
This is a one-of-a-kind art print, a product of the screen printing process, made from up to 10 unique layers, printed within months or years!

Test prints may have small scarfs on the edges and/or marks or printing on the reverse side.

Während Iggy Pop und TV On The Radio ihre aktuellen Tourneen durch Europa fortsetzen (siehe auch die vorherigen Beiträge), starten die mächtigen SUNN O))) heute in Warschau ihre Europatournee.
Am 16. Juni kommt die Band für ihren einzigen Deutschland-Auftritt in die Halle02 nach Heidelberg.
Wir von Spiegelsaal.net hatten erneut das Vergnügen das dazugehörige Gigposter zu gestalten und im klassischen Handsiebdruckverfahren zu realisieren.
Die Vorgabe der Band war eher offen gehalten: „Irgendwas mit dem Model T Röhrenverstärker wäre cool“. Das Ergebnis ist ein dreifarbiger Siebdruck (inkl. Metallic-Gold) gedruckt auf hochwertigem 300 g/m² Pergraphica Stormy Grey Papier. Format: 50 x 70 cm. Limitiert.
Ein kleiner Hinweis in eigener Sache (weil’s immer mal wieder gefragt wird):
Ja, unsere Poster gibt’s natürlich ganz klassisch am Merch-Stand beim Konzert – wo sonst? Schließlich handelt es sich um offizielles Merchandise, das wir zusammen mit den Künstler:innen und/oder ihrem Management auf die Beine stellen.
Wer’s verpasst hat (oder keine Lust auf Schlangestehen hatte): Einige wenige Exemplare landen am Tag nach dem Konzert oder der Tour auch in unserem Webshop → spiegelsaal.net.
Und manchmal (wie aktuell bei Iggy Pop) gibt’s sogar einen Pre-Order, damit ihr auf Nummer sicher gehen könnt.

This is the last in a series of album covers we designed for the NDR Bigband, Hamburg’s Radio Jazz Orchestra.
The album is »Talking with Béla«, the big band‘s take on Béla Bartók.
The first single »Evening in Transylvania« from that album was just released.

The NDR Bigband, Hamburg’s Radio Jazz Orchestra (»one of the most inspiring European big bands«)
asked us to develop an album cover design concept for their newly founded digital label.
The albums feature their take on the music of either a stand out (classical) composer or genre/concept.
The briefing asked for a design that made it easy to recognize the covers as a series, yet open enough to suit the music/composer, and it was supposed to stand out from the corporate NDR design.
We developed dynamic minimalistic portraits of the composers in combination with a series of patterns that were inspired among others by elements of the music’s score or the time it was created.
We did three cover designs so far:
»Visting Krzysztof« (Krzysztof Penderecki)
»Pulp Friction« (Kalle Kalima’s take on the music of Pulp Fiction)
»Walking with Igor – A suite for Soloist Orchestra« (conductor Geir Lysne’s take on Stravinsky)
The next album will be released shortly.

Some time ago, we designed the cover for the LP of “Es war Mord” (It Was Murder).
Some of you may have already seen it, but the band had patches made with the cover illustration .
