@experiencehattiloo is closing out Season 19 with a POWERHOUSE. 🎺 August Wilson’s MA RAINEY’S BLACK BOTTOM is on stage NOW through May 10 — and this cast is not playing around. It’s 1927 Chicago, a rundown recording studio, and the “Mother of the Blues” is fighting for control of her music while her band simmers with ambition, tension, and something deeper. Rage, power, pride — it’s all in the room. Hattiloo’s Season 19 brought Jubilee, Jaja’s African Hair Braiding, Dreamgirls, and more — and they’re going out on one of the greatest plays in the American canon. If you haven’t made it to Hattiloo yet this season, this is your moment. 🎟️ Link in bio for tickets 📍 Hattiloo Theatre | 37 S Cooper St 🎥 @joce_blake #Memphis #HattilooTheatre #MaRaineysBlackBottom #ILoveMemphis #MemphisTheatre

Still sitting with the beauty of the MomMe Time Brunch curated by @whatthedoula to kick off Black Maternal Health Week 🤎 To be in a room full of Black mamas — nurturers, healers, life-givers — was nothing short of sacred. The love, the honesty, the softness, the strength… it was all felt. While I may not be a mother in the traditional sense, I’ve come to realize that I’ve birthed many things — ideas, spaces, and most recently, my Birth Innovation and Care Lab. And moments like this remind me that creation takes many forms, but the intention is always rooted in care. I’m so honored to use my voice and my writing to showcase the magic of Black motherhood — and I’m deeply inspired as I continue to walk toward becoming a doula. Grateful for spaces that pour back into the women who pour into everyone else. This was truly special. ✨
