“Great things start in small rooms.” - Andre 3000
Here’s another small reel featuring @jnavigator from my mini-doc highlighting @quartyardsd and the importance of small venues and live music.
Everything you touch, turns to love.
On Earth you’re an answer from above.
If I falter, if strength falls from my hand.
With patience, you listen, you understand.
I long for your sweet, sweet lover’s touch.
Oh, you know I never, never can get enough.
Came to work today to find a surprise for Quartyard thanks to QY friend and artist @bigchill8825 . This piece is dedicated to two very special people that gave so much to this space and the many guests we’ve served in the past 11 years. Larry was a diehard LSU Tigers fan (Red Sox/Celtics/Colts too!). He passed away suddenly this May. Robyn passed on in 2021 after her battle with cancer. Seeing it at first made me sad, and then I smiled because we have a place to honor them, a place where they not only worked hard but also brought joy to those around them, and I truly believe that they received joy by being of service to our community. Their purpose and role was integral to the spirit of our space. Just a reminder that the most sacred gift one can give aside from love, is service. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to work beside Robyn and Larry. ✌🏾💙
It’s my favorite person’s Birthday today! Cheers to many more years of Monopoly Deal, Turf Club martinis, travels, laughs, and good times. Love you cutie. 💙💙💙
So, what is City Lights?🚦
It’s choreographed light and sound performances featuring lasers, reactive video, LED sculptures, projection mapping, (+ lots more) creating a powerful synergy all inspired by a different aspect of city life🌃
It’s a platform for emerging artists, highlighting local talent, and bringing together digital creators, sound designers, and visual innovators💡
It’s a celebration, offering a multi-sensory escape as the days get shorter and the nights come alive🌙 Through City Lights, Quartyard is offering a dynamic new way to experience immersive art in East Village✨
SAVE THE DATE, here’s the plan fam: SAT APRIL 6 we celebrate 9 YEARS of Quartyard! Anniversaries are special for a reason; for me, it’s an opportunity to WOW, a chance to celebrate all of the people who make our venue a colorful, soulful, and joyous place. I’m so proud of our team, our collaborators, and our city for continually coming out to enjoy our space. Nothing would make us happier than to see you on April 6. We are dreaming up an amazing show with @miguelmigsmusic@mitchum.yacoub + surprises. ✌🏽 💙 shout out to @andrew_mcgranahan for the awesome poster
