MET GALA 2025 - ‘SUPERFINE: TAILORING BLACK STYLE’ Una propuesta audaz y sofisticada dirigida por @readingp con Génesis Suero como musa de una narrativa que une herencia afrodescendiente y vanguardia contemporánea. En una edición histórica del Met Gala, donde la conversación gira entorno al poder, la estética y la narrativa del dandismo negro. Para esta edición de “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”, @genesissuero  viste con una propuesta que no solo honra el legado del dandismo como lenguaje de resistencia y sofisticación, sino que también lo reinterpreta con una sensibilidad moderna, poderosa y absolutamente suya. A través de un traje sastre de tres piezas diseñado por @josemartinezpz  para provocar, emocionar y celebrar, Génesis encarna la figura del nuevo dandy: empoderada, elegante, femenina y masculina a la vez. Con una ejecución impecable y una dirección estética profundamente consciente, este look se convierte en una conversación visual entre siglos, culturas y géneros. El traje de mi querida Dascha @sheisdash fue hecho en Lino con capas en tulle blanco de lunares. La tela combinada con la geometría y las lineas simétricas de la pieza me ofrecieron un lienzo perfecto para jugar con la combinacion de las telas. El blazer no lleva solapa ya que la tela me ofreció la complejidad que la pieza necesitaba. La falda es de talle alto llega justo debajo del busto y esta combinada con una camisa estilo babero en Lino con botones de perlas. El panel de lunares de la falda fue posicionado estratégicamente para resaltar la figura de Dascha acentuando la feminidad y simetría en el traje, que resultó formal con lineas modernas. In honor of the Met Gala last Monday… Meet Jose Martinez (B.F.A., fashion, 2023), Dominican-born designer and SCAD alum 🪡 After more than 250 hours of sketching, draping, corsetry, and hand sewing, Jose’s gown debuted on one of fashion’s biggest stages… the Met Gala. Inspired by Hellenistic sculpture, Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomical studies, and the idea of “fashion as art,” the gown transformed @genesissuero into a living marble sculpture - blurring the line between stone and human form. Jose shares, “For me, this dress is evidence of the intricate education I received at SCAD and the importance of teaching multidisciplinary courses. From art history to anatomical drawing and sculpting, this dress comes together as the epitome of ‘Art as Fashion.’ It is a tribute to all artists. MET 26 “Fashion as Art.” The Hellena Dress: Inspired by the study of human anatomy and Hellenistic sculptors, this look explores the transformation between flesh and marble. The search for the muse led me to the sculpture halls of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where Hellenistic depictions of Aphrodite inspired the final silhouette and exaggerated hip shape. A woman becoming stone, or stone becoming woman. A love letter to 2025. This year, JMP had the privilege of working on extraordinary projects with even more extraordinary collaborators. We kicked off the year with my first Met Gala look, celebrating Black dandyism alongside Dominican beauty @genesissuero for @telemundo . That was followed by dressing the one and only diva @milagrosgerman for the opening night of @cheverenightslive . Later, JMP had the honor of dressing @lagranarana with @miguelestevez1 And we closed the year dressing the incomparable @pamsued for @dominicanasgottalent , where she celebrated her Golden Buzzer moment in JMP.
