Flowers for the Dead performing a new one â I was trying to read the set list upside down and I think it said âKill Starâ â with their new bassist Naomi at yesterdayâs Pie Shop matinee.
Itâs always interesting to see a new bassist take over for a previous one. I had always seen Naomi playing a J-bass with a pick in Cherub Tree, while Ella had always been a fingerstyle bassist in FFTD. I saw a photo on FFTDâs insta where it appeared Naomi was playing her J-bass fingerstyle, but at the Pie Shop show she was playing the EDB600 you see in this video. Thatâs an Ibanez Ergodyne model with an onboard active preamp, and it really growled through Pie Shopâs house Ampeg stack!
Nashville hyperpop duo Total Wife expanded to a five-piece full band for a set of rock 'n roll takes on their songs at yesterday's Pie Shop matinee! Here they are kicking things off with "spade".
L.A. quartet Starling kicking off a lovely set at yesterday's Pie Shop matinee. Both the first and last songs in the set seemed to be new unreleased ones and now I'm curious about the titles!
Boston quintet JVK tearing it up with âPop Culture Affairâ, the title track from their brand new album, on Saturday night at Pie Shop. What a set that was!
Mac Nâ Toss covering Gina Young's beloved â00s classic âSo-called Str8 Grrrlâ on Saturday night at Pie Shop! Yâall know Gina Young is touring this summer and taking Mac Nâ Toss with them, right? Including hitting the Black Cat on the first of August, Iâm told.
RenRiot performing their brand new song âHunt You Downâ and their somewhat less new song âPsychoanalysisâ during a roaring Thursday night set at the second annual @volare_empowers We Deserve to Party fundraiser at Pie Shop
Ezra Furman, accompanied by Lilah Larson, performing âNo Placeâ at the beginning of a heartachingly beautiful set on night three of Liberation Weekend II on Sunday
