Here are the facts ! 1. Yesterday I ran 13.1 miles 50 seconds slower than I did 1 yr ago. 2. Last year was already a result I wasn’t entirely ~ stoked ~ on. 3. And yesterday’s result on paper doesn’t tell the story of the progress I made this past year. Mindset-wise, momentum-wise, acceptance-wise. I am where I am with running right now, and all I can do is keep showing up, pounding the rock (IYKYK), getting excited about the glimmers of fitness, and believing that eventually it won’t feel like such an uphill battle. Or hell, maybe it always will. 4. And if that’s the case I’d STILL choose to do it. Because unfortunately I do love this crap. And by “this crap” I mean the awareness of my body in the world, the working hard alongside people I care about, and trying my darnedest even when (or because) it’s a struggle. ❣️ 5. By “this crap” I do not mean the mindset of *locking in* [shout out @alicebaquie ] or the oversaturation of vloggers on start lines. YEEHAW she’s feelin spicy 🥵 6. Goodbye winter 2026. Ready to see some pink flowers soon. 9 weeks til I do a full marathon for the first time in 4 years?! 🤸‍♀️🤠🪲🪅 7. Ty to @umpz for the good photos! And thx to @nataliapaine for posing with shaq, @brooklyntrackclub for bringing good ppl together, @localhillrun for the reminder that consistency >>> and @paulopolooza for everything else

Would you rather race in blue capris or dye the bottom 4 inches of your hair purple? Also in 2016: me resting in a tiny bed in capris, Paul looking like kurt cobain on multiple occasions, and a bunch of other SIMPLER AND BEAUTIFUL moments

The year my baby turned 1, my other baby started a beautiful newsletter, we went across the pond, and I ran my first two ultras. Sue me, I miss Facebook albums part 363738.

@jfk50mile — 5️⃣th woman. The Appalachian Trail had many moments of being gnarlier than expected. The canal path went by faster than expected. The last 8.5 miles of rolling pavement were more torturous than expected. Seeing Paul and Huma at crew stations felt more life-giving than expected. I’ve been wondering for months how running 50 miles would feel, and if it would feel like a race. And waddaya know, the moment a volunteer told me “you’re 8th woman,” it felt like a race. I was lucky to be able to share multiple miles with a few women out there and somehow felt okay enough to keep moving up even after I told @paulopolooza and @_humahusain_ I wanted to stop. They found pickle juice to revive me!!! In the back of my head this summer, I NAIVELY wanted to step up in distance and fly through the miles with ease and have it be a piece of cake and trounce fools. Spoiler: turns out running 50 miles isn’t effortless! You heard it here first. I still found this whole escapade worthwhile even if I never do anything like it ever again (which I’m currently claiming is the case). I got to learn the ins and outs of effort and how to stay engaged and motivated and how to emotionally detach from numbers on my watch. @stephenkersh is the goat at this running and coaching thing - I actually respect what he does now!! 🤡😌 @ryan_sterner took incredible photos of me being very dramatic. I really feel very grateful to my people for the love and support along the way of my sometimes selfish little hobby <333.

🕯️ WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW IT’S RACE WEEK 🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️ My sick and twisted little ultra build of 2 ultras in 2 months is coming to a close this weekend. And due to training and working and sleeping and having to leave enough time to watch 1 (one) ep of high potential each night before bed I never ended up even doing a dang 50K post-race POST. So here it is, and then a bunch of other random things that have happened in October and November. Running 50 miles at @jfk50mile on Saturday. No it’s not around the airport, yes I still need to get 1-2 more handheld bottles. Hard to say whether I feel completely ready, but have I ever, for anything? Let’s rideeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

pour an entire bag of Cheetos out for the end of September. even tho some of these pics are from August. Anyway, to quote my mom’s favorite Irish blessing: may the road rise up to meet us and may we continue to occasionally find ourselves OOO, out of state, in the mountain west, on the west coast, showing Eve the good stuff (family + friends + ponderosa pines + lots of moss) 🌲🍃💚❣️❤️‍🔥

One hectic day in Denver in July. Got there, ride-shared to a trail, ran for 2 hrs, made it to dinner and the best discoparty wedding reception, then was back home after Eve’s nap the next day. These are the moments that makes me think I can in fact fit everything into my life without sacrificing anything. ✈️ ⛰️ 🪩 🕺 ✈️ 🐦 right?? Right???

It’s time to send your heartfelt condolences my way bc the only option left for me to try a new running distance is: an ultra. Look, on a long enough time line we all become the people we think are dumb. 🥰 Enjoy me trying to defend my actions in between gasping for air as I swing a kettlebell quite close to my crotch. Shout out to Steven kirsch @localhillrun On a realer note - I’ll admit I’ve been ultra-curious for at least 7 years and this year I began to ask myself: if not now, when? Sure, it will likely involve a lot of leaning on my people but I recently got an auspicious tarot reading done that told me to remember and harness my team. So I said 🤠 🐂 (that’s an ox which makes me think of harness). 🔟weeks til my first 50k! Time to build for real. Gonna eat so many nerd clusters can’t wait 🐞

1:18:54 for half mary at project 13.1. Smack dab in the middle of my fastest and slowest half marathon finishes. So: Not *back*, BACK back but working on it. I figured I’d memorialize the time we got 2 flat tires on Paul’s birthday on main, pls enjoy. I hope I never lose sight of feeling grateful and privileged to be able to pursue this silly little passion of mine. My passion is: getting flat tires on the side of the road in Nyack, not running. The good photos are @thats_so_mo.a.f

Jeanne Mack is so back. After some downtime following the birth of her daughter last March, Jeanne has gotten back into the swing of things with @localhillrun . Training methodically ramped up over the summer and fall and Jeanne just took part in the US Club Cross Country Championships where she nailed her goals. In the coming weeks, Jeanne will be dusting off the Dragonflys and getting back to the hallowed indoor track for a spate of racing before gearing up for a half marathon in early spring.
