My 9-year-old son, Amrees, is taking on a pretty amazing challenge this year alongside his school friends - @knightfrank @schoolstriathlon - swimming, cycling and running in a relay to raise money for two wonderful causes: @restlessdevelopment in the UK and @sparrow_schools in South Africa, supporting underprivileged children. As a parent, it’s genuinely lovely to see kids wanting to make a difference beyond themselves. If anyone in my network is feeling generous and would like to support him, every donation - big or small - really does help make a difference to someone somewhere. Link in bio to donate. Thank you for cheering on the next generation of changemakers. I hope he continues his charitable work as an adult ❤️

The first few clips ARE NOT how I traditionally celebrate Diwali or grew up celebrating Diwali. However, THEY ARE how I show up, support & celebrate the hard work & commitment of my friends & community, they are how I play my part in representing diversity & the movement for inclusion to support future generations. When I graduated many years ago and landed my first job in PR with the L’Oréal group, whilst it felt like career dreams coming true, there was very little in terms of South Asian inclusivity not only at the HQ, but within shades, campaigns and in boardrooms no South Asian cultures were celebrated in the UK, we weren’t very seen. Fast forward and a lot of hard work, dedication & passion by a lot of people has given South Asians a voice, a seat at the table, credibility that will last and impact our future generations positively. Whether you’re a South Asian industry professional, influencer or brand Founder, you have made a difference. This is a start, of course this opens up more conversations, more education, more evolution, of course it’s not one size fits all for South Asians, of course it can seem ‘a bit much’ but if you have a voice in this industry through whatever work you do, please use it to better this, to improve upon this, to make this more authentic & credible, to encourage others to embrace us, our culture, rituals, religions & heritage. Whilst my work has turned towards philanthropy, my decades in the beauty industry allow me to share my expertise, offer guidance & mentorship and that’s how I will give back to the industry I grew up in via @southasianbeautycollective I am truly grateful to the brands who invite me not only to Diwali events but other events too. The last two clips ARE how I celebrate Diwali & remember the valuable lessons of Bandi Chhor Divas. Gurdwara, family, self care & chai! Blessed to be born into Sikhi, even more blessed to be free to celebrate what I choose, with who I choose because of the sacrifices and battles fought before me. Never forget. Sikhi is to learn, and that I shall continue to do.

@southasianbeautycollective x @bicestervillage a milestone moment for Vaisakhi, beauty & British Punjabi representation. A deeply moving day spent at The Last Princesses of Punjab exhibition exploring the lives of Princesses Bamba, Catherine & Sophia, daughters of Maharaja Duleep Singh & the enduring legacy of Maharani Jind Kaur. Raised within English aristocratic circles, the sisters moved through high society spaces where their beauty & mixed heritage were often treated as something unusual & romanticised by the British press. Even now, South Asian beauty is still reduced to trends rather than truly valued in its depth, diversity & identity. The princesses found joy in gatherings connected to India & in building relationships with South Asian communities of their time. That sense of seeking community, culture & belonging across generations is something the community still understands deeply today. One quote that stayed with us was Princess Sophia’s words: “If I am not a fit person for the purposes of representation, why should I be a fit person for taxation?” Her courage to challenge exclusion & speak up for fairness still resonates now. Whether in society, leadership or beauty spaces, representation cannot be selective. The bond between the sisters, their individuality & the way they navigated two worlds resonated strongly. British South Asian women balancing heritage & modern life. It reminded us that even when barriers exist, there is always power in sisterhood, resilience and showing up fully as we are. Beauty within the community has always been rooted in so much more than trends. It lives in natural skin, rituals passed down through generations, in the pride of our hair & in the confidence from embracing who we are. For many Sikh Punjabi communities, hair carries deep meaning, identity & honour, something to be respected & celebrated. Thank you @fableandmane for sharing this ritual. We left feeling connected to the women who came before us & continued the celebration over a beautiful vegetarian meal, sharing stories, laughter & reflections on what it means to carve space for ourselves today.

Friendships in your 40s hit differently 🤍 We grow up with so many types of friendships - family friends, school/uni friends, work friends, and for those of us who are mums, those lovely “mum life” friendships too. Some stay tied to a chapter, while others walk alongside you through many. Now & again life surprises you and you cross paths with a beautiful soul you lost touch with. And then there are the unexpected ones. My friend @aartipmakeup doesn’t fit into any of those boxes, yet here we are in our 40s, enjoying watching this friendship grow. At a time when I thought my circle was full and life was too busy to let anyone new in, this friendship just… happened. Effortlessly. We support each other without even trying. It’s easy, it’s genuine, and it reminds me that sometimes the most meaningful connections arrive when you least expect them. So if you’re a busy mum who feels like you already have “all the friends,” stay open. Notice the new people life quietly brings your way. Make the time. Nurture it. Some souls enter your life for a reason 🤍

I had the most delightful afternoon celebrating the 2nd anniversary of @southasianbeautycollective founded by my fabulous friend @aartipmakeup at the stunning @jikonilondon (Founded by @cookinboots )with gifting by @creedfragrance & @bagsofethics (designed by @studio_jagsihra )in a room full of incredible individuals 💫💫 It only feels like the other day when she shared her idea with me, and then she went off and made it happen ✨✨ 2 years of building, representing and thinking ahead, with me cheering her along on the sidelines 🥂 with the first ever South Asian Beauty Awards taking place in London this September, this year will be the biggest yet and it’s only just getting started. The awards will recognise people, brands, media & companies who celebrate and embrace South Asian representation and inclusion🔥🔥 As I mentioned at the lunch, after being in the luxury cosmetic industry my entire adult life (when it was rare to see another South Asian) when I now see a fellow South Asian breaking boundaries, moving mainstream, representing in a room, it also has my name on it, and paves the way for me, others and future generations, hence why I support Aarti & the mission of the collective 🙌🙌 Please contact us if you’d like more information on the partnership opportunities available for the beauty awards, a chance to not only gain exposure but to be a part of the conversation, as well as make history in being one of the first to support the first ceremony ⭐️⭐️ Professional shots by @amber_varghese_photography 📸 / Calligraphy by @mimawrites 🖋️

2016/2026: 1. Ended 2015 back from New York after launching SHOW haircare (Tamara Ecclestone’s former hair & blow dry brand) as the brand’s Global PR Director, working with Bold PR. We then spent Christmas, my birthday & NYE in mine and my husband’s 1st home together, with no idea what 2016 had in store… Jan ‘16 arrived and we found out we were pregnant with our 1st 🤍 my screenshots show on 19 Jan ’16 I posted: “I already know 2016 is going to be ridiculously amazing” - knowing our little secret. Today I noticed two screenshots from 29th & 30th Jan: one a playlist of Sikh prayers by @snatamkaurkhalsa about divine birth, and the other, which totally stopped me in my tracks, a logo of a school I knew nothing about then, but which is now the biggest part of our lives. The only explanation I have is a friend mentioning she was nearby because her son was playing rugby there… somehow the screenshot stayed. Years later, from age 5, my son became adamant he was going to this school. That screenshot next to the moment I found out I was pregnant with him must be unconscious manifestation! 2. My husband surprised me with @mariahcarey tickets, we stayed at St. David’s Hotel & Spa Cardiff Bay, & stopped off in my hometown of Chippenham to tell my grandmother I was pregnant, I can still see & hear her reaction so clearly. Little did I know she would pass away 6 wks after my son was born, never meeting him 🥲 Clearly Valentine’s Day was still celebrated in 2016 😆 then bump came with us to San Francisco, San Ramon for a family wedding, & Las Vegas where @mo_hotels was the best. 3. There were daily commutes, scans & the delight of my younger sister being pregnant at the same-time, we celebrated @coworthpark spa. I had the most beautiful baby shower at the local @theemperorpub & my @smythson work diary turned into my “mummy-to-be” notebook! 4. He arrived a couple of weeks early, 3 days into my mat leave, & just like that, the most magical human I’ve ever met became my life. Along the way, he’s gained a brother 💙 (& I’ll dedicate a post to him in 2030!) We ended 2025 with my birthday, & here we are, excited for what 2026, & the next 10 years will bring!

Today we celebrate Gurpurab, honouring the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his timeless teachings of humility, kindness, and inner beauty 🙏 His wisdom reminds us that true beauty lies in a pure heart, selfless service, and seeing divinity in every soul. Let’s carry his message of compassion and equality into everything we do 🙏 @jksohalpr

Last week @simran posted something that got me thinking, this led to more industry Diwali discussions, and then today @diet_paratha posted about a similar topic, these are not influencers ‘having a moan’ - more thoughts on this in my captions in this carousel! Feel free to share, forward, engage - conversations like these are what inspire positive changes and help us to evolve as communities. So much work has, and is being done by so many including by @southasianbeautycollective for voices to be heard and people to be seen, let’s help be the change 🌍 ❤️🙏🏽 #diwali2025 #bandichhordivas #bandichhordivas2025 #diwali #diwaliforsikhs #sikh #sikhi #southasians #southasianculture

This weekend’s @youmagazine inside the @dailymailuk features an Ageless Beauty story that means more than words can say. To see a South Asian woman centred in a national beauty feature, discussing skin tone, greys, pigmentation and inherited rituals such as hair oiling is a powerful thing. It doesn’t happen often. That’s why this piece matters. It was an honour to create this look on Jazz, a @southasianbeautycollective Ambassador, whose story reflects so many of ours, balancing career, family and culture, while carving out time for herself. With South Asian Heritage Month just around the corner, it feels even more meaningful to spotlight a beauty narrative that rarely gets the space it deserves. My work has always been about celebrating and showcasing South Asian beauty; whether that’s through editorial, events or collaborations that make people feel seen. Some of the hero products I use and mention in this feature are recommend for melanin-rich skin tones and common concerns like dark circles, pigmentation, and ashy tones. @bobbibrownuk Vitamin Enriched Face Base & Skin Corrector Stick in Deep Peach @esteelauderuk Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation @armanibeauty Luminous Silk Foundation @lorealparis true match foundation @kikomilano Long Lasting Eyeshadow Stick in Golden Brown @tatcha the brightening eye cream @lancomeofficial teint idole ultra wear all over concealer @no7uk pro artist soft glow cream bronzer in medium glow @trishmcevoy cream blusher @kosas colour correctors and powders @hourglasscosmetics loose powder @yslbeauty Waterproof Eye Pencil @benefitcosmeticsuk Precisely, My Brow Pencil @lorealparis Volume Million Lashes @bobbibrownuk Luxe Matte Lipstick in Downtown Rose @maccosmeticsuki fix + spray Thank you @lifesrosie for trusting in this story, @jeanie_beanie13 for always supporting ways to ensure inclusivity and diversity for all and being a true supporter of @southasianbeautycollective …… and thank you Jazz for embracing your greys and showing us all that beauty doesn’t age out. It evolves

✨YOU reader makeover✨ Jazz, 45, is always looking for make up products that suit her skin tone – but as a working mum of two boys, she doesn’t have heaps of time for a complicated beauty routine. Our beauty editor (@lifesrosie ) turned to pro make up artist, and founder of @southasianbeautycollective , @aartipmakeup for her tips and tricks on how to tackle issues like uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, dark circles under the eyes and ashiness around the mouth.
