2025 has been a year of big steps and even bigger growth. Moving in together has been a meaningful milestone, and one of the best decisions of my life. Another song from my EP dropping Friday, Self-Help for Soft Boys. This looks better than the reel I last posted because @robbiesaturn offered his superior video skills.
As you may have guessed, this song is about overthinking. Overthinking can lead you to become detached from your identity, the things you enjoy, and the ability to take action. It’s difficult to avoid going overboard because some amount of thinking is necessary and helpful. I don’t expect to avoid overthinking at all times, but I try to be mindful when I can.

Some things that come to mind reflecting on the song:
Change brings difficulty and fear. I’ve heard the phrase “change is the only constant” used a lot in the past few years. It can feel invalidating, but it can also inform your perspective and help you soften towards the idea of change.
The support and love of others is important, but change may unexpectedly cause you to drift away from people who were once important to you. It’s equally important to provide these forms of support to yourself. Developing familiarity with who you are helps guide your actions and the things you can control, even if you are at the mercy of unexpected changes.

✨Solo Guitar✨
First video using @twonotesaudio Genome. Was surprised with a free license because I own hardware (Captor X). The initial setting is a really great (to me) clean tone, I just tweaked eq and gain for my guitar and added vibrato. (Also compressing before/after genome plugin.) Consensus says clean tones are easy to model, but I generally find them to sound too flat, or they only sound good with more breakup than I want.
Not using it in this video, but the onboard Codex amp modeler seems like endless fun. Already downloaded a crazy assortment of amp captures and they are v cool.
