Been a minute since I’ve been to the track; yeeted the civic around the new buttonwillow circuit loop this weekend with some ff buddys: @epgonzalez1573@mpais86@goosewurkz . Hats off to @doghouse.garage for hosting a smooth running track day with tons of seat time - think I ran every session.
This new track is 👌👌👌
First session was a mess trying to learn the racing line but 2nd sesh onwards was pure joy. While the track map on paper looks kinda boring, not the case irl! There’s sectors that feel like nods to chuckwalla, SOWS, and classic BW so so fun when you start to get the line down. Turn 8 is probably the worst sector imo, always botched it. That area feels like a mini version of t1+t2 at sows which I suck at too lol. Anyways more seat time will fix that.
What made this track day even better was the fact none of us loaded this track map into our Aim Solo lap timers LMAO. So relying on our lap timers was out the window. It was nostalgic to the old days (99-04 era) when nobody ran personal lap timers and just simply enjoyed jousting around the track zero fcks about lap times! @mpais86 EF was killing it and us oldies with his MSB16 😩🤯 …need to shake my rust off quick 😬
Day didn’t come without issues tho. This track kills brakes!! Boiled the brake fluid first sesh. Bled the system with new juice but still had boiling issues for the rest of the day. Luckily after each session cool down the fluid would come back to life and last about 6 laps before falling off again with that low pedal pressure. Other than that all went well.
Good times seeing old faces and meeting new ffolks!
